Tribute Credit Card Atlanta Georgia Charged late fee when payment wasn't late Atlanta , Georgia

I just received my bill from Tribute and was I surprised.  My payment was doubled and I had a late payment fee charged, as well as a maintenance fee for a card that has been closed.  It shows a transaction date of 11-20-09 for the payment but a posting date of 12-3-09.  when i questioned them about it i was told by someone barely able to speak english, that they credited the payment when they received it.  I had my bank do an electronic payment 9 days before the payment was due.  How did the company know the date of 11-20-09 was the date I paid the bank if didn't show up until the post date of 12-3-09.  Also why am I paying a maintenance fee of $10.00 when I can't use my card.  I really can't understanding having a problem because until they closed the account, I made my payments at the same time and never one had a late fee.  I think the maintenance fee is a FRAUD and something should be done about it.
