I am disabled so I wanted to drive during the day from california to reno. My friend who is dieing wanted to fly down from Anchorage, to see me one more time .His Friends were trying to get him a flight asap while he could still travelThey made a flight arrangement for him to be on standby.He would probably be here Thursdayearly morning.. So I made a reservation for wednesday night. I wnated to drive during the day over the mountains in case if snow,pick him up thursday morning and drive back during the day..     So sunday I booked with Tripres.com for wednesday. Unknown to him nor I ,another friend of his got him a flight for friday that was not standby so he wouldnt have to sit around in a wheel chair for hours waiting for a flight. He called me with the news. I called the 24/7 line to change the reservation . The "make reservation" line is 24/7 but the "change reservation" line  is 9 to 5. Meaning they were already closed for the day.

I called the next morning and was told I was too late . That I should have called last night.(??) I explained the situation but  'rules are rules  ' they told me and said we hope you enjoy the stay. I called the hotel desk . They said if I had booked directly with them they would help. They only have a 24 hour deadline. They  suggested I call back and try to explain better or talk to a supervisor. The next person at Tripres said I would have had to call by sunday to cancel or change. I told him that was 3 days before the reservation.I explained that 48 hours is 2 days before and I DID try to call but there reservation people said only the" Change reservation" people in customer service  could help. Their hours are 9 to 5. So I got burned.

Today they had the gall to call me to make sure I was happy with the room they got for  me and with the help they gave me(??!!??) I told them I was extremely dissatified and would never deal with them again. So now I will be driving icey roads during the night on saturday early morning because I cant afford a room, having spent my money on a room that is right this moment empty with my name on it.They suggested I try to sell the room to someone on craigslist.I have been a businessman and business owner  for years. There is a letter of the policy and a spirit of the policy. But not with these people.They say bring me you poor,your tired your sick and afflicted and we will gladly take their money because our policy is more important than a happy customer. Even when it may be their fault.24/7 being 9 to 5 is false advertising. If you book with them add 18 bucks for the insurance in case you have an emergency change and you will be fine.So that makes their good deal really not so good doesnt it.
