TripRes.com Corrupt and unethical business practices! Las Vegas, Nevada

I booked a hotel reservation on tripres.com and 2 days later I realized I couldn't use that reservation and needed to cancel. They told me they would charge $50 per person to cancel. Which meant a $100 cancellation for a $150 room reservation. This is ridiculous since my reservation is 2 months away!!! They stated it is because they get charged fees from the hotel for cancelling. I was in the hotel business and know for a fact that they do not charge fees for cancelling when it is 7 days or more away from the check in date. So for the supervisor to tell me that a $100 cancellation fee is required to cover cancellation costs is absolute corruption.

He stated that the terms and conditions state this, but when have you ever scene a booking site like Hotels.com, expedia, travelocity, etc. state "Outside of 7 days from the arrival date, a $50.00 cancellation fee per person will be applied on all itineraries".

Outside of 7 days???!??!?! Every website I have ever seen always says within 7 days. Plus couldn't I interpret "Outside" to mean "Except for reservations over 7 days, a $50 cancellation fee....."

This website needs to be shut down because this is completely wrong and unethical!!!
