I Purchased a living room set in April of 2007 from TRS STORE inside Sam Levitz on 36th Ave. in Tucson AZ. Norma who was the manager at the store told me that they would report to the credit bureau every month, that's why we got the credit with them because my husband and I needed to start building credit. We had 2 Years to paid them off, We always made the payments in time, We even paid them off in November 2, 2007. In December it was still showing the balance from our last payment in October, so I did a dispute on my credit the results wore that TRS requested to have removed from my credit.

I called the company and there was a new manager named Michael he told me he would look into it, so Norma the old manager who is now working on the Valencia Store called me and said that they couldn't do nothing because I did the dispute and that TRS Never requested to remove it from my credit so I contacted the credit bureau again ant they told me that same results and that TRS had to Contact them and request to put it back in my credit report. I spoke to her again and she said she couldn't do it. I search the web and found the corporation phone number, a man named Scott who answers he said that the person in charge for the credit is a lady name Johnnie I called her for almost 2 weeks and her voice mail always answer I left her at least 5 messages and never got a call back. I Called the Corporate office again and spoke to Scott I told him that I was not able to speak to her, he told me he was going to have someone call me back, Joe the district manager for Tucson called me he asked me to fax him a letter saying that I needed the to report to my credit and he would work on it, and to give a call in a couple of days he even gave me 2 phone numbers where I could call him. I called him back and he didn't even remember what I needed so I faxed him the paper again and I have a copy with the dates on them. He told me to call him back on Monday, when I called he told me to stop calling his private phone that he didn't know how I got it and to call his office, he was really rude and he is the one that gave it to me his number, where else would I get his number from. I got tired of dealing with this guy so I called the corporate office again and told Scott that this guy was not helping me and that I didn't want to deal with him and I needed this taken care off, he said he would have someone call me back I told him not to have Joe call me and he did Joe said he would have Michael the new store manager work on this and to follow up with Michael in a couple of days, I called him and he never did anything about it. Joe was suppose to call me back to follow up and he never called me. I been trying to get a hold of Joe for 3 week and he is always in meetings or not in the office, And Michael doesnt work for TRS anymore.

I don't know how they can have someone so irresponsible and impolite being a district manager. It has been more than 4 months and nothings has been done to solve my problem. I don't know what else to do. This company is just a rip off not only they tell you lies, they also rip you off, the living room set was $798.00 plus $99.00 for some protection in only 6 Months we paid them close to $1,600 I could say this because I have all me receipts since April, imagine if we made payments for 2 years or i if we missed a payment our living room set would have been picked up the next day.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

As a former manager, I want to let you know the policies of TRS Home Furnishings

AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 29, 2008

I was a manager of 2 stores in Tennessee for over a year for TRS. I have recently finished legal filings against this company so I can now speak about it.

The training process for this company promotes this ripoff mentality. Employees are constantly subjected to a "Rip them off, repo the furniture or you are fired attitude".

I am struggling now with my time spent moving up the ranks in this company and the honest consumers I have hurt during my time with this company. The district managers for this company are very rarely seen and we were told that they were not there to deal with customers. However for my district, when you would see them they would be visibly drunk which in turn lead Ashley Furniture to discontinue their association with TRS in our area.

I am not saying this because I have ill will towards this company or anyone associated with it, I simply left on good terms for a better paying job. However, now that I have, I would just like to advise customers to steer clear of this company.

The Damage Waiver is essentially a complete rip off which just goes directly to the bottom line of the store managers revenue. It is not insurance, just a complete rip off that we were trained and I, myself, trained employees how to hide this from customers. We were trained never to tell the customer we are a rent-to-own company but to represent ourselves as "Finance Managers" to the turned down Ashley customers. Therefore the consumer would trust us, as representatives of Ashley Furniture, to put them in the right program for their credit situation. However, the ultimate goal was to just get them to sign on the dotted line, because after that, we owned the customer.

TRS store managers are compensated directly on their production and their delinquency. A store manager must sign 79 "deals" a month, which leads to seperating pieces of furniture on to seperate contracts, each with it's own fees, in order to make their "deals".

TRS district managers make their bonuses based on weekly delinquency requirements so this leads employees to harass customers and repo their furniture if they are as much as one day late.

The consumer will always lose with this company because of the way that the store employees are trained. They are left in the dark as to what the company they are working for represents until they are so far into it, they begin to by into the "rip off" mentality.

I feel deeply sorry for the employees employed with this company because of the fact of working at a job you go home every night and know that you not only didn't help a customer, but lied your way into deeply hurting a customer.

This company sets up your account based on a multiplier. They take the cash price of the furniture and multiplies it by 3, and then divides it by 24 months, and that is your monthly payment. The company expects you to pay THREE TIMES what the furniture costs on the floor, not including a littany of fees thrown in there.

I advised any consumer to be very wary of TRS Home Furnishings and be wary of any individual you are introduced to by an Ashley Furniture HomeStore employee after you fill out a Citi or Wells Fargo credit application. You will end up very confused and trapped in a situation that is hard to get out of without paying much more than you should.
