TruGreen Deceptive Business Sales Practice ripoff Plainfield Illinois

I signed up for a 4 treatment service in March 2007 from TruGreen. They applied the first two treatments with no issues.

However, in June 2007, they called my house and my wife answered. They pretended to confirm the service that I had ordered and asked if she agreed. Somehow, during the conversation, they said I had also order the $75 grub control application and wanted my wife to confirm.

Unfortunately, the way they presented it, my wife understood it to be just confirmation to the 4 treatment service I had originally ordered. So of course she confirmed what she thought what the original order was.

I called the company to complain and they said that she did agree to the grub service and that they had a third party confirm (they got her birth date and email).

In any case, there wasn't much I could do because by the time I found out, they had already applied the unwanted/unnecessary service.

As like anyone else would do, I've canceled all future services with this company and hopefully won't experience them trying to apply additional services without my approval.

I just want to make people aware of the way they can con you out of your hard earned money. From now on, I've told my wife to refer all things that I initiated to me. Lesson learned.
