Having qualified for the earned income credit I was entitled to a free federal e-file through turbo tax online. Upon completing they were wanting to charge me $12 processing fee for having my e-file directly deposited. They wanted to take my refund and deposit it into a bank in Santa Barbara (or something) and then take there fee and direct deposit the remaining in my bank account. Or I could pay the $12 fee with a credit card.

I went onto the customer service site and asked why I was being charged a fee for having my check directly deposited. After waiting two minutes for every response, I was getting frustrated. One lady I was talking to even said the IRS does not directly deposit into your account. Having enough time to phone and talk to the IRS, before she typed another sentence, they told me this was a lie that they do direct deposit. I told the lady this and she ended chat session with me.

It's a joke and scam to get them more money. THE TRICK IS TO (If your filing for state also) DELETE your state return (clicking e-file federal return only will NOT work). DELETE YOUR STATE RETURN. This will in turn allow you to efile your federal return, with direct deposit with no fees. Took me awhile to figure that out because the jerks dont want to tell you. They're just trying to scam people out of money, DONT PAY THEM ANYTHING.
