A year ago a UPS driver delivered my package to the wrong address. Now UPS is allowing the driver to make the decision to deliver my package "with signature only". I should not be penalized due to incompetance of the driver. UPS is allowing this individual employee to inconvinece me based on a mistake that he made - not me.
Looks like the only way i will get this delivery is to either take off work and drive across town to pick it up or find an unemployed friend to pick it up during busness hours. Guess I will be taking off work.

I will not be making purchases from businesses that ship UPS. If I had time to drive across town, I would not have ordered online. I would have went shopping.

If the product is unique, you probably can't avoid UPS

AUTHOR: Anne - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 13, 2006

If the product is unique, such as what we manufacture, you may not be able to buy it without UPS being involved. Even if you buy our product from a dealer who uses another carrier, you can count on the fact that we gave UPS money to deliver it to the dealer and the dealer will pass along his costs to you.

We won't change, because we get very few complaints; we also work to resolve the few complaints right away. Cost and service are also factors. UPS is by far the best vendor for us and will be unless something drastic happens.

I'm just giving you fair warning of what to expect on your UPS-avoidance crusade.

If a customer would rather do without our products than have UPS deliver them, we're fine with that. After all, we can't make anyone buy from us who doesn't want to. The converse is true also. You can't make a business bend over backwards to get your custom if your custom isn't worth the trouble to them.

UPS... What a joke

AUTHOR: Suzanne - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, February 11, 2006

The company that I work for uses UPS. We have a website where general consumers can purchase our products. We use UPS to ship our products, not for how they do their business but for their rates. I know off hand how UPS treats individuals. I also know how they treat your packages.

Because of these two reasons, I spend quite a bit of time on the phone with their customer service department. Dealing with a UPS agent requires time and patience. Being persistent and assertive usually does pay off. If you are speaking with an agent who refuses to help you or if they seem to be incompetent, ask to speak with their supervisor.

Did you contact the company who sold you the products? Any reputable company who does business on the web or through a catalog will help you. Any time a package comes up missing or damaged, we replace the product and make a claim with UPS for the missing goods. That way the customer doesn't have to go through the agonizing experience of dealing with UPS's customers service.

If you can't get anywhere by calling by phone or sending e-mails, write a letter of complaint and mail it certified with return signature receipt. Keep a copy of the letter for your records. Request in the letter that you would appreciate a resolution expressed in writing with-in 30 days.

Please post to let everyone know what happens with this.

#10 Consumer Suggestion

I certainly do not expect a business to give up a relationship with their shipper because of one customer complaint.

AUTHOR: Shar - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 10, 2006

But I do know that complaints are noted and rememberd. If a business gets enough complaints, they change what they are doing. Most in fact have a contract with the shipper. Just like the corporation I work for. We have changed shippers in the past due to problems. We used to use UPS. Now we use FedEx. That could change someday if we have probs with FedEx. If we have problems, get enough customer complaints...It's no longer a good relationship. And we will change shippers.
And it certainly is too much trouble for me make my own arrangements to ship. Truth is, whatever a business sells, there is someone else that sells the same thing. And uses a different shipper. That's how business works.

Our Business Won't Use Fedex

AUTHOR: Anne - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 10, 2006

We prefer to ship with UPS and will not ship with FedEx [it's a long story which isn't germane]. If a customer insists on using FedEx, he or she is welcome to use his or her own FedEx account and make his or her own shipping arrangements. That might be a solution for you.

If you can't bother doing that, don't expect businesses to give up a good relationship with a vendor [UPS] who gives them good value just to keep one customer. Business doesn't work that way.

Only 1 lost pkg

AUTHOR: Shar - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 09, 2006

No. There is no more to this story. The one 'missing' package was delivered, according to the driver, to another address. It did not become missing from my address. I filed the 1 claim because the driver was unable to recover my item after he admittedly dropped it off at someone else's house.

Once again: It was not my mistake. Thisis not a high risk area .I should not be penalized. The drivers just need to deliver to the correct address. And if the driver is unable to make deliveries to the correct addresses....well then he should not have a job delivering packages for UPS. He should find a new job. One he is able to do.

The driver's trying to keep his/her job

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 09, 2006

I know there's a whole lot more to this story. If UPS won't deliver to your house without a signature, that's their business. The driver's trying to keep his/her job. I guess they don't want to be paying any more insurance claims. Here's a thought, why not have your packages delivered to your work or is that your other job? As for not making purchases from businesses that ship UPS, try FedEx. It will cost you more, but then again FedEx will probably stop delivering to your house after a couple of "missing" packages too.

UNITED PARCEL

AUTHOR: Shar - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 09, 2006

I'm furios. UPS is allowing the driver to penalize me for a mistake HE made a year ago. He is being allowed to deliver my packages "with signature only" because I filed a $100 claim a year ago. The driver delivered my package to another address. He told me that if I really wanted he would make an attempt to recover the package, but it would be easier to file a claim. I wanted my package. Some things in it could not be replaced. He acted like i was putting him thru a big ordeal. He stated that he recovered the package but not the contents(?!?!)

It was HIS mistake - not mine. Now he tells UPS that he is not 'comfortable' deliving here without a signature. Now I have a delivery out there in limbo. They say it may be delivered today. But he has til 7PM to do it. This is my only day off 6 days. I would need to take off work and drive across town to pick it up. I need it for Saturday night. These are two large HEAVY packages. Could not be carried for any real distance. So why not leave them?

I am a customer and want my delivery in a timely, convienent manner. Without some idiot driver playing games with me because I put him thru a little trouble in an attempt to correct his mistake.

I will not be making purchases from merchants who use UPS. And I will be letting them know why.
