After discovering that I was being overchared, United Propane agreed to credit me and to begin charging me a more realistic price. That lasted for about two deliveries.
Again they began to charge me approximately $1.00 a gallon more than the going rate for a 1,000 gallon tank, (that I own). You can't communicate with the office personel. They either don't listen or simply ignore what you're saying. I corrected the two bills I received at the higher price and mailed checks which reflected the price adjustment. Obvioslly I went with another supplier.
I have been getting regular phone calls from an obnoxious man named Gene Edwards who has been telling me that as he speaks, they are removing the propane from my tank.......processing a work order to plug my tank......filing a lawsuit against me, etc,etc. I gave this to my lawyer who contacted him and instructed him not to call me again and explained that he harrassing me. This guy simply ignores my lawyer and continues to call my home, my cell phone and my employer.
Folks, this company is rotten! They will charge you what ever thay can get away with. If you happened to have one of their tanks, get rid of it. Buy your own. You will be much better off in the long run.
If you google "United Propane" you'll stumble upon lots of websites like this that allow you to write reviews. I have yet to read a positive review for United Propane. can we all be wrong?

On March 8, 2011 I spoke with a United Propane representative in Easton MD to cancel our auto delivery due to financial struggles. I was assured by United Propane that they would cancel the auto delivery and place me on Will Call on that day with the understanding I would contact them if the tank was at 30%. The agreement was signed on March 8, 2011 and have copy in hand. On March 16, 2011, United Propane came to my house and filled by tank without notification. I received a bill from them for the unauthorized refill at a rate of $4.20 to top off the tank. $1.00/gal over the competitors. Our tank was 40% when they delivered on March 16th. United Propane filled to 80% and we are at 70% as of this date. We have been harassed by Gene Edwards of United Propane to pay this bill or suffer a legal suit.
We have signed with another supplier and had new tanks installed today. We have asked United Propane tto remove their propane and tank which is underground, and installed over 25 years ago and they refused.
We purchased the home in 2006.
We have been overcharged and a victim of stronghold for the past 5 years.

I too have dealt with Gene Edwards and can support your story. He is very good at what he does. keep ripping off people by force of contracts they originally brush over to get you to sign ... caution consumers. these folks arent much different than the gypsies that smear oilover your driveway and tel you its seal coated.
