Went to the Urban Active Fitness Taylorsville location in Jeffersonville, Kentucky. I was not happy with the way I was treated or how my situation was handled.
I have two issues that I feel need to be addressed.
1st My Unlimited Guest Membership
I pay a monthly fee of $30.00 per month, which grants me the privilege of having unlimited guest. This is suppose to allow me to bring one guest we me for every visit. However I can only bring guest over the age of 18 years old. This means that my 17 year old son can not come to the gym with me. Which I really do not understand, except for the fact that he is a minor can cannot be talked into buying his own one-year contract. Well here's the issue. This was not explained to me when I signed up for my membership.
Which brings me to today's incident. I have to travel to the Taylorsville location, because classes are not offered at urban city locations in Louisville (i.e. Preston & Dixie). Because its summer a not a lot for teenagers to do, I took my son who is 17 years old with me. I was told that because he was 17, I could use my guest pass for him. However if I pay $10.00 on top of the $30.00 I pay every month, I could get a day pass. Wow! Really!
I asked to speak to a manager and they gave me to some girl that was pretty much useless. When I asked to speak to one of the people in the glass offices I was told that I could only speak to them if my son signed up of a complimentary card.
So let me get a full understanding; (1) I can not bring my 17 year old as my premium guest; (2) I can pay an additional fee on top of my membership for a day pass for my 17-year old and (3) my 17 year old could sign up for a complimentary day pass, if he agrees to talk to a salesman.
I just really do not understand the logic behind what this manager was telling me. So today I didn't get to participate in a class that I had to drive 20-minutes in rush hour to attend and unless I pay more money my unlimited guest pass is basically useless.
2nd Issue: Trainer Fees
Why do you have to purchase an additional contract for a trainer? I wanted a trainer, I just did not know I was buying into another $300.00 contract. I just wanted to hire a trainer and pay a month to month fee, but in the end I had to pay another joining fee on top of the $80.00 per month for the trainer. I recently found out that I am being laid-off from my job and the staff member I spoke with told me that they could only suspend the fees for 3 months. Which is not how it was explained to me when I inquired about getting a trainer. In addition to that, they went into my account several days before they where authorized to do so.
