The per diem program has got me confused, they say because Im in the p/d program that 3cpm is taken from me and I dont know where it goes.I have called&asked about it and I get the run around no straight answer. In other words my cpm & p/d per mile dont add up to what they said I would be making permile.

Now...I have other issues as well.I'm missing 2cpm they say is for school repayment. Its not listed on my paystub anywhere the money is just not there. On top of,that they agreed to pay it,part of my signing on.Are they required to show on my paystub(settlement sheet)all the money withheld? Why!& Where it goes!

Im also tired of running part time and east of the Mississippi River.I was told 48states and 3000plus miles.I call and Im on hold,or hung up on or I get tranfered 3or4 times before I talk to the right person just to get a voice mailbox then, with no return call..ever.There is more,in a nutshell thats it and can anybody help????

first i am a driver trainer with us xpress direct and have been here for about 4 years so i am very knowledgeable. the problem is what you signed up for and agreed to. lets deal with the per diem program and let me explain it to you since no one obviously did. first what they say is will take 3 cpm and give you so much of your pay tax free this is a fee and not reeflected on you settlement sheet because by taking this you agree to a lower pay rate. they justify this by saying it pays to administrate the program.

most people do not benefit from this program so i tell my students to stay away for the most part. now as to the tuition reimbursement program what they say is we will pay up to 150.00 per month for every month you are employed at us xpress in return we will reduce your pay by .02 cpm. so your amount of pay is reduced not a deduction.

the problem is what you agreed to, i tell my students it is not worth it. if you roll 8000 miles per month wich is done with little effort you pay the company 160.00 to pay 150.00 for you. they get the write off on the taxess and you do not get it.

so the problem is you did not listen to what was said and got sold a billl of goods by recruiting. i am sorry this happened but company told you, and you did not listen, or understand. hope that helps but that is the facts my friend good luck.

ask questions in orientation before you agree to anything that will reduce your pay. if you still do not understand get the driver liason involved or a trainer we are here to help you and i agree most of theese programs benefit the company not you.

Ken, this is a tricky issue

Ken,

I hope you had all of the things promised to you at hire put in writing.

In reality they are not withholding anything. They have actually changed your pay rate/mile. This is why it will not show up as a deduction.

They will give you the runaround until you give up and accept it, or just quit.

The per diem program is where you alocate this money on a pretax basis for your federal perdiem deduction, therefore reducing your taxable/gross income.

They cannot force the per diem program on you. Tell them you want to opt out of it.

As far as the school repayment, that should have been fully disclosed at time of hire. If not, that is an illegal deduction. And that, they must show.

Stay off the phone, put your requests in writing by certified mail, return reciept requested. Put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records.

The best way to get their attention is to just apply for another job, and use them as your current employer/reference. Then when you get the new job, tell your DM you need a load back to the yard or to the city of your new job. This works every time.
