My 92 year old mother has been the recipient of USBI's phone charge scam for several months. We have been unsuccessful in having these charges removed. Her telephone company, AT&T, is aware of the charges. AT&T stated to me recently they receive complaints from their own customers involving USBI charges. Yet, AT&T claims they are only billing "third party charges". I wonder how much of the fee AT&T receives for these monthly charges.

Various web sites show many consumers have fallen prey to USBI practices without results from their phone company provider, FCC and other complaint resources.

I have attempted several times to request USBI cease these charges as they do not provide any long distance service.

I can't help but wonder if this is an overseas operation. Is the monies collected isn't going to a terrorist group against the USA?

But, if they are a USA operation, why doesn't FCC take action close them down. I have sent Complaint form 2000B to the FCC.

I think a class action lawsuit against the participating phone companies would assist in cleaning up this scam. I noted on several websites, Cincinnati Bell, Verizon and AT&T customers are being caught up in USBI fraudulent practices.

I don't think that the phone company gets paid by the third-party.

Because I think it's federal law that the local phone company can't shut off service for non-payment of the third party billing items. (Unlike cell phone third party billing items...)
