Insurance for low dollar items is not worth it...

AUTHOR: Jmb1122 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 17, 2007

The USPS insurance program for packages is really weak in terms of responsiveness and the hassle isn't worth it for low dollar items ($100).

People that mail through the USPS and UPS and Fed-Ex need to understand that their package is going into large pieces of collection equipment (those big silver containers you may see at the airport) with tens or hundreds of other packages.

The packages move on conveyors, drop from height, are physically thrown from one container to another, smash against other packages and are often buried with hundreds or thousands of pounds on top of them.

The general rule is that you should be able to drop whatever you are mailing in a package from chest height and be confident that it won't be damaged. Better yet, if you can sit on the package it will be fine.

To the person that mailed the computer case. Did you package it in shaped Styrofoam? Did you package it with Styrofoam popcorn?

Look at the way major companies package their products for shipment and consider the cost. They don't package them that way to be nice - they know what the package is going to go through as it travels through the various automated and manual sorting systems and prepare the item accordingly.

Unfortunately your experience with the insurance program is typical. Fortunately it is very inexpensive and you will get reimbursed eventually, though I doubt the time and energy you invest in it will be worth the $100

Postal Service is a Joke

AUTHOR: Sheila - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 19, 2006

Postal service is a big joke. They have so called "delivery confirmation". All this does is tell you when it hits your local post office. This does not mean it will actually make it to your home mail box. I get mis-directed letters all the time. Sometimes I think I get more of my neighbors mail than I do my own. Complaints only cause further problems (almost like the carrier is getting back at you).

They have lost so many packages that I routinely pay extra to get delivery via UPS, FedEx or any other delivery service.

Now I hear they want to raise the price of stamps AGAIN.

Aafes How Many Times Should You Have To File?

AUTHOR: Lee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 19, 2006

My customer went to the post office twice.
Plus all info i had sent him.
How many times do you expect us,To file
That is why we buy insurance. They are putting
customers through this,So they don't have to
pay. Please if they were so good why all
the other complaints on them?

And as far as caps,I have 4 websites and write my
own code thank-you very much. And as far as taking
care of my business i stay up on them all.

If i ran my business like they run theirs
i would be out of business.I take care of my mistakes i dont pass them on and not take care of them for 3 to 4 months later.
Excuses are like butts every-one has one.

Why did you not simply keep a copy

Why did you not simply keep a copy of the original claim form? If you did, send it with the appeal of their response.

BTW, the caps lock key is on the left side of your keyboard.
