I went to value brakes to get new brakes. The people were very nice, but after they inspeced my car, I was told I needed new everything. they said,"I can get you everything you need, with a warantee of 3years 36,000 miles for $450.00 out the door.
I told them Not to work on my car, that I would take it somewhere else. I did take it somewhere else the next day, and almost everything Value Brakes had said was false.value brakes said my callipers were bad. they were not. they said my oil was corroted. it was not.they said the back hardware of my car needed replacing. it did not.
The only thing my car was in need of, was new front brakes.
I was given the 2nd opinion by another business that i have been to before, and they have always done great work.
My reason for this report, is because I am tired of going to a business and being lied to! I do not have the money for their mistakes. Furthermore, all Value Brakes said they did to my car was inspect it. I was told they did no work to it, and I paid nothing. But, when I left from there, my car sounded so awful, and did not want to stop, as if I had no brakes at all. It was not that way before I took it to them.

You and I both know that $79/4 wheel brake job is a bald faced lie. How many people actually get out the door for that amount? One out of 100, and only when the State AG comes by? At the local labor rate averaging out to $70/hour, you have more than that in labor alone. The typical 4 wheel brake job calls for 2 hours minimum...$140 labor. Do your mechs work for FREE? Nope. In order to make that $79 pay for the labor alone, you need to upsell. And that's what gets you in trouble with the AG in every State. I like how you keep changing the name of the Company as part of the settlements.
You tell everyone they need wheel cylinders because there is "moisture" behind the boots. No DUH! The seals in the cylinders SEAL because of that moisture.
You tell everyone they need calipers because they have more than a mile on them. If they don't leak, or the bolts aren't seized, they don't need replacing.
You tell everyone they need hoses. If the hoses are not cracked, or collapsed(the real reason most of these places claim your calipers are seized is the hoses are collapsed and the piston will not retract), why are you telling people they need them?
Master cylinder problems? Does the car have a mushy pedal? Is there any signs of leakage at the booster? No? The master cylinder is fine.
Why is it I, and everyone else around here, can do a 4 wheel brake job for about $150, or just the fronts for $80, and we have happy customers, while your company is all over the place in here? I'll inform you of the trick we use. We actually tell our customers the truth about what they NEED. nearly everyone needs nothing more than a "pad-slap" and they are good to go. A few need rotors with the pads, but I think I have done ONE brake job that required everything in the past 2 years.
This Caravan came in with the rotor vents showing through, no brake fluid because of the torn hoses and destroyed wheel cylinders(from the shoes coming loose inside the drums due to disintegration of the hold down springs), someone else's handywork trying to replace the master cylinder(I can't describe what they did), and drums that looked like they had been on it for more than 300,000 miles. The reason is simple...it DID have more than 300,000 miles on it. It was a company vehicle that did short stop/go trips all day, every day. They literally ran it until it just wouldn't stop anymore.
Everyone else gets out of my shop for less than $200.
While I admit your company isn't actually committing "false advertising", it's so close that eventually everyone working at your Company quits. I think they develop a consience.
Why don't you advertise what you really charge? Advertise $600/4 wheel brake jobs. At least you'll be telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
This goes back to my asking how people can accept an unrealistically LOW price as the correct amount, but immediately know the unrealistically HIGH price is too much. An educated customer is my best customer. They are not even near your shop.

I have worked for this company for the past three years but in another state. I have also worked in the brake repair field for 5 years prior to that.
You stated that they said everything was bad on your car and they gave you a quote for $ 450 for a 3 year 36.000 mile warrenty. you also stated that they told you that your calipers were bad, your brake fluid bad and hardware needed replacement.
To start off with calipers are not included in our 3 year 36.000 mile warrenty. They are included in or higher warrenty of 50.000 miles (no time limit) part and labor total replacement warrenty. Brake fluid is recomended to be flushed by the maker of the vechile about one a year or app 18.000 miles as maintaince. Hardware is also recmonded to be replaced with the pads for noise control and even wear.
All that being said I had them pull a copy of your inspection and found the following. They did recomend the services in your report but did not show them as needed for safety reasons, but for a higher warrenty, noise control, better performance and longer part life.
You also stated that they said they only inspected your vechile and now the noise is worse and it will not stop properly and that another shop changed just the pads and that it corrected all of your problems.
Sir I say with respect that anyone reading this will know that just changing pads will not take care of a low pedal problem, it mite make a noise go away for a short period of time if the pads were on the sensors as your car was according to your inspection sheet.
Long and short of it you had sticker shock. They gave you a Free Inspection and made recmondation as how to fix your car properly and not to apply a bandaid, but by this report we can tell you wanted to get out as Cheep as possible so who ever told you the Cheepest price is who you believed. If you had just told them you just wanted to get by and did not need a long warrenty or did not care about anything but the price I am sure they could have worked with you to give you a safe although not complete brake job that fit your budget
By the way How many times have you brought your car back to the shop that changed the pads to complain about the noises it is making
