Higher than expected payoff...

AUTHOR: Credithelper716 - (U.S.A.)

Hey there! Let me tell ya... I feel your pain on this one! From my experience, I've found there are a couple of things you may want to look at....

1 - Do you have a simple interest loan where the interest accrues daily? If so, if you have had any extensions on payments or had situations where you had to make a payment late, you might have gotten additional interest charges since its billed daily on simple interest loans.

2 - Do have an escrow account included with your mortgage? It's possible your payoff quote may include insurance the mortgage company has billed you, taxes, or other fees.

I would contact them and ask for a breakdown of the balance. They should be able to tell you exactly what you're being billed for. If your mortgage holder can't justify the balance, I hope they credit you for any bogus charges. Good luck and hope that helps!~
