I should have known. I seriously should have known.  I usually can smell when somethings fishy-- but that time I could not.  That day I had passed the white KIA for sale for the 4th time that week.  The price was right, and I was interested.  It being for sale by a private buyer, I knew I had to get the info on the car before getting my hopes up.
I browsed online to find a place to get a vehicle history report.  Carfax was too expensive and overpriced.  I figured I'd be able to find a smaller company with a smaller price to get the history report.  With just a few Google searches Vehiclehitorys.com popped up.  The site is set up very simple, nothing fancy, nothing hard to understand.  On the front page there is a search box for you to type in the vin number you'd like to search.  After putting it in, your vehicles body details show, as a verification that  the vin entered is correct.  The following page states that for just $2.95 you will get a car history report which enlists accidents and substantial damage done to car. So i entered in my debit information and waited.
They sent me and email telling me to login to my account to retrieve the information.   I tried logging in and it would not let me, telling me that my account had been temporarily suspended.  I tried 5 times that night and I still could not get into my account.  Periodically throught that week I tried 4 times and still nothing. Something isn't right.
I decided to dig up dirt on the company and found no information on that, not even a ripoff report. So I went direct and read more information about the site.  After searching, I read on the terms section "If you are satisfied with our reports, do nothing and you will be automatically be signed up to our members only area which allows you to perform 4 (four) Vehicle Historys reports each month for $29.95 on your statement"  Never was this mentioned when I initially signed up.   Not once did they even say in the fine print.
"Bull s**t!"  I said to myself.  The terms were listed on another page and not given at the time of purchase.  Days later I contacted them via phone to of course be guarenteed the $29.95 had already been billed and; technology fails, this is why I never received a vehicle history report.  The accented women I spoke to from customer service customer service did not offer to get me the initial vehicle history report or offer me a refund.  Online the paragragh on refunds and fraud states, "If you are satisfied with our reports, do nothing and you will be automatically be signed up to our members only area..."  I never even received a ehicle history report.  This is fraud.
I called back and spoke to another customer service representative, I re-read the terms of the purchase, "Evaluate our service for 3 days. If you are satisfied with our reports, do nothing and you will be automatically... I never received a vehicle history report so I have nothing to be satastified or unsatistified with.  My $29.95 should be credited back into my account."  I was put on hold and when the guy got back to me he said he would make an exception for me, and refund me half of the money taken from my account.
I wasn't having that, I demanded the full refund of the $29.95 because I did not pay half of the price, or recieve half of the service.  I recieved nothing. After pulling teeth with the guy who only offered me an apology, and put me on hold multiple times he told me he would make an exception just for me and refund the $29.95. I was going for the $2.95 when my husband told me to stop there, and let it be: accept the $29.95 and run before they choose not to deal with me.
Vehicle Historys offers a service that they do not fullfil. I am $2.95 poorer and still have no history on the KIA I was once interested in.  I am awaiting the refund still and I am holding my breathe.  DO NOT USE VEHICLEHISTORYS.COM.  They are fake and will only take your money and leave you wondering about the car you are interested in.  The customer service is terrible and they claim that are rarely supervisors and managers in to talk to.  WORD TO THE WISE: If you are seeking information on a car, do not try to take the cheap route-- use Carfax.  I have read houndreds of reviews backing them as a company.

Don't let them get away, please call your Credit card company to have your first two charges removed.  I called mine and they credited me $2.95 and $29.95.

1. Placement of their terms on the webpage is not in a normal place people will look or check.
2. No section where I can click to agree to their terms
3. Their report on the car is inaccurate.  Their report state no accident but carfax report accident.

Good luck!

True but..

Though I did not read the fine print I paid for something and did not get it! And this is why I should get the refund. If I recieved car facts I would have accepted full ownership and not half and I would have moved on. But it's more than false advertisement, It's a lie, and a process that no one else should have to go through.

And Carfacts having houndreds of great reviews is a hyperbole like no other.  I've seen a few good reviews, much less than 100.*Looking back and seeing reviews on carfacts.com I do NOT recommend them at all.  They have very low scores and reviews.

You failed to read the Terms of Use that you agreed to when you signed up. You should have clicked the Terms link on their home page. Then you would have read:

"Terms of Use"

"Evaluate our service for 3 days. If you are satisfied with our reports, do nothing and you will be automatically be signed up to our members only area which allows you to perform 4 (four) Vehicle Historys reports each month for $29.95 on your statement"

It sounds like Vin History didn't work out so well, but...

Please provide link(s) to these "houndreds of reviews," as I understand Carfax has a lot of credibility problems.

For example, their disclaimer says not responsible for info NOT reported to them.

I have to wonder how you found all these glowing reports and would like to check them out.

The link(s), please.
