Verizon Wireless ripoff rebate on phone, they threw the box away WITH UPC, no rebate possible Golden Colorado

I went in to the store while on vacation to get a new phone (mine had died). They had a phone that fit my needs, with a rebate making it half priced. They set up the phone, provided me with a nice back to haul the phone, transformer and such in - but didn't provide me with the box with the UPC label - making any chance of the rebate null.

Since I was on vacation ( and they kneww that given they had to lookup the phone and asked), it was impossible for me to go back there and retrieve anything.
