On July 12, 2017, a user booked a stay thru VRBO.com, which is a website that allows users to list and rent vacation rentals for short term, at my place from July 13-16, 2017. Payment was accepted on their website and was approved and processed. The tenant stayed and had enjoyed his stay and left. A month later on August 23, 2017, I received an email stating that a "CHARGEBACK" was issued and money had been taken out of my account. i then contacted VRBO and they transferred me to their chargeback department to a "chargeback specialist." I then found out that they transferred me to YAPSTONE, which is the payment processor that they use for their website. They then told me to send them information such as proof of evidence of this person's stay, rental agreements, identification etc.

I advised them that I do not have the information because everything was booked through their website. They said a screenshot of the payment processed on the dashboard of the VRBO.com website was sufficient and I also sent in screenshots of the text message communication I had with the user/tenant. Apparently, the user had used a credit card under a different persons name that I was not aware of as I have no part in taking in payments as everything is done through the website.

I then get email yesterday on Sept 28, 2017 explaining that the chargeback dispute was held in favour of the cardholder and asked how I want to proceed:

Please select which option applies to your situation from below.

1. ___I do not wish to contest this dispute.
2. ___I am requesting Direct Arbitration. I understand I will be responsible for the ($250.00) filing fee and the ($150) administrative fee assessed by MasterCard if the case if found in favour of the cardholder, as well as $100 technical fees MasterCard assessed at the time of the ruling.

Not only did they take money back for a service I offered, they now ask for more money to fight on behalf of my earned money. RIDICULOUS

I hope everyone knows that this is how to get free stays on VRBO because they are a joke of a website. NEVER LIST YOUR PROPERTIES ON HERE. YOU WILL BE SCAMMED!
