This for consumer's to BEWARE of Wal-Mart and their associates. My daughter injured herself 10 years ago. I wish I knew about this back then. My daughter fell out of a Wal-Mart Grocery cart and we nearly lost her. When the incident happened, she was only 3 years old and she was screaming and screaming, not one Wal-Mart associate came to help.

I had to find a Manager who could NOT help me get ice for her head, so then he just pointed in the direction to go get some ice at a store nearby that was connected to Wal-Mart and said if they don't have any I could go somewhere outside of Wal-Mart to get ice, then he walked away. He did not write up a report, like a manager is supposed to do, I had to go to the customer service desk and let them know what happened and write a report. The manager should also have offered to call 911 for me, but didn't.

When I left there I took my daughter to the hospital, she had to be transported to Children's Medical Center for further treatment and surgery because she fractured her scull and had a blood cot that had to be removed. She was in the hospital for 3-4 days. A couple weeks later I got a call from a Wal-Mart associate to follow-up and when I started telling the associate everything, he quickly hung up the phone and I never heard from them again.

I tried calling that Wal-Mart to report what happened, but they didn't care. Needless to say we boycotted this particular Wal-Mart in Garland and now thankfully it closed down, but only to reopened another one a couple blocks away. One other thing about this particular Wal-Mart is that when ever you needed help, no one spoke English to be available to help you (most of the time).

This is also written to warn parents, DO NOT let your children stand in the shopping carts, it is VERY dangerous!! I see children standing in carts nearly every day!

I filed a response but it never got posted
YOU are responsible for YOUR child - don't blame Wal-Mart
Let me guess - us taxpaying citizens of Dallas County payed for your child's medical bills
Grow up - learn to be a parent!

Sure they should have helped you. They have a whole precedure for customers getting hurt. However a lot of children get hurt because parents don't do their job as parents. They don't tell their children to stay seated. They let their children climb shelves. As a matter of fact like Jason said they even go as far as telling their children to do something dangerous(stand at the edge of the cart, run where there is a slippery spill) in hopes of getting money.
You are talking about how no one speaks English. Well the warning signs are clearly in English. The warning pages are clearly in English, so perhaps you did not understand the big warning sign written in English.

"Warning, do not let you child stand in the cart. Do not keep child unattended. They even have pictures of the proper way to put seat the child. I am sorry if I sound harsh, but children do not know any better and it is the parent's job to keep them safe. Deep down I think you feel guilty because you were not attending your child. It takes only a few seconds for your child to fall out of the cart and hit their head. Infact we had a case like that at our store.(we handled it better than what you described).

The same advice goes for parents who leave their children unattended in swimming pools, it only takes ten seconds to drown and it is quiet. Most people think if a child is drowing you hear them splashing but most of the time this is not the case.

Here is what should have happened

AUTHOR: Jason Tillo - (U.S.A.)

Someone should have called CPS on you and had that child removed from you. You are no way fit to be a parent. It is your job to keep her seated. You know what some people purposely do something which will make their child "fall" from the cart so they get money from a lawsuit. Too bad you were not a good parent back then. You almost lost your daughter because of your neglect.

So letme see if I understand you

You let your child stand up in a shopping cart instead of being restrained in the seat portion with their seatbelt.

Your child fell out of the cart doing something that she shouldn't have been doing.

She got hurt and you blame walmart for the injury?

I believe this is negligence on your part, not walmart's. Sure, they could have been more helpful, but how did they cause it?
