I was injured at walmart (im an employee) I was off work 4 months due to an injury that Wal-mart could of prevented.
After returning to work i was given a bad eval because i hadnt been to work long enough. They could of used my work, attendance, attitude (all the things thats included in an evaluation) prior to my injury but they wouldnt
My anniversary hire date came up and instead of giving me my 2 weeks that i had earned for vacation they said they based it on actual time worked i ended up with 42 hrs vacation time instead of 80 as i should of gotten. Holidays? instead of 8 hrs pay i receive 5.7 (based on actual time worked)Walmart truly sucks and they sure arent family oriented as all the ads claim they are.
I have went over managers and supervisors heads and called the main office in AK only to be called to the office.
No one has a chance at wally world unless you are a manager or in with the higher ups. Employees dont have a prayer! I'm on my way out and not a minute to soon . And as a final statement Walmart stores are only as good as the managers that runs them!

I have a comment for the last person to open their rude mouth. Christopher:
How about I ask you, have you finished high school or finished college? It seems like you're picking on Wendy and not even for the comment she made about her job. Yes, everyone hates their job at some points. You can't just go quit and find a new one. Its not that easy.
Im a mother of 2, a student, a wife, and a walmart employee. I finished high school and got married. I had my kids and decided to go back to school. Fortunately, the walmart I work at, 1346, is so fantastic I don't know if I'll want to leave even after I finish school.
Just because you work at somewhere where education is not needed, doesn't mean you don't have one. I graduated high school with a 4.0 as well as my current GPA in college. Like I said, just because Wendy and I work at Walmart does not make us any dumber than you. And to me, it makes you look like a sad, bored, and angry man. Probably because you yourself are disgusted with your lack of education.
Some people are at peace with their decision not to further their education and it seems like you have unresolved issues with yourself that you need to work out before you go running your mouth about things you don't know about.

TEAMSTERS....lol
I am the head of the St.louis area Teamster Local 618.
and let me tell you all this, we get reports of unfair labor and wage practices from wal-mart employees all day long.
I will say the same to you WENDY as i say to others.
If you dont like it leave .....dont b***h as it does nothing but waste your time....
they will never offer you a salary you see fit to live on.
maybe you need a REAL JOB, did you attend collage or finish high school.
Teamsters are against wal mart 100% or killing the local mom and pop stores but at the same time understand there position....
they know if you are gonna apply there you are a bum. have no education or asperations in life,
go work at burger king i bet you are treated the same way or worse. then you would love wallyworld.
life will never be easy for you if your ultimate job is gas staion clerk, wal-mart, or fast food.
This is not a carrer this is SCAB work.
If you have education and self respect just smile, do your job till you find a better on give 2 weeks notice and leave on good terms. even if they s**t on you you still need to reamin professional as practice.
just remeber you dont mean crud to them minimum wage just are a dime a dozen and if thats all your woth good luck finding a place to treat you well.
You are what your worth and at wally world nobody is worth more that 12.00 an hour.
and that to me is hilarious......

Wendy,
I too, am an employee of "wally world". I strongly agree with you that there should be a respect for ALL individuals. Not only is there a lack of respect in the store that I work in, there are also little clicks. Certain people can miss work frequently and nothing is done about it.
Also, just a simple thank you, you have done a good job or a smile when managment comes in, in the morning would go a long way! We can't even get that at our store!
Another thing is the yearly evals. What a joke! I have been at work every day for over a year, I have not missed but half a day in this time. There are several people that have been there just as long as I have, yet they get a $.30 cent raise just as I do so showing up for work and your work performance has absolutely nothing to do with the raises you get!!! This goes against what is in the handbook that each employee receives when he/she starts work! The handbook plainly states that your yearly raises are based on your work performance and your attendance. What a crock!!!
The manager of our store acts like a d**n hermit and saves every dollar for his precious bonus. He could care less what the employees get. We are making just barely over $15,000.00 a year. The interest on my mortgage that I paid last year was $9,865.47!!!!!
Wal-mart is definitely not very family oriented, at least store 192 isn't!!! It is impossible to support a family on this kind os wages!! What I don't understand is that we are supposed to be the third largest wal-mart in the country and we are the fifth largest money maker they have and yet they pay shitty! We could drive 30 miles north and do the same job for almost $3.00 more an hour! Go figure that one out. That store is smaller than our's!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish you good luck and hope that you can find a better job than Wacky Wal-mart!!Good luck

Wendy,
I also am a WalMart associate. Going on 14 yrs now. As a previous associate wrote, the rules about vacation time are in the handbook. You are off base by stating that someone who takes a personal leave is entitled to the full 80hrs that you are complaining about. They are also given an average of their hours. Same with Stakeholders Bonus checks. If you (or anyone else that is qualified) takes a leave of absence, the check will basically be pro-rated. You will get a portion of a full share based upon your hours worked.
I also have to wonder about your "accident." I have seen too many new associates get hurt, and it is usually due to their own negligence. Whether or not they were horsing around or not working safely to begin with. I am not saying that this is the case with you, but some are out to get what they can from WalMart.
If your attitude at work is anything like it is portrayed here, I would give you a bad evaluation too. I know people like you at the store that I work at and the store would be a better place without them. So go ahead and quit your job.

Not greedy? Then why the complaints?
AUTHOR: Paul Pickle - (U.S.A.)

If you are truly "not greedy" as you claim, then where on earth did the thought of suing Walmart for their "unsafe working conditions" come into your head?
Is your complaint against Walmart your lack of vacation time, or their unsafe working conditions? Make up your mind. Right now it does not appear that you know what you are arguing for ... it just looks like you are out to get something for nothing, via whatever means possible.

accured is the right word, ... I understand what you are saying but being laid up in pain and in PT 3 times a week, and no money comming in for over 7 weeks I dont call that a vacation by any means. and all i was doing was stating that i was DUE 2 weeks and felt it wrong that i didnt receive it since it was earned prior to the injury but its no biggie just was venting a little. hopefully i will be out of there soon and wally world can become someone elses nightmare. I'm not greedy by any means, I could of sued walmart for there unsafe work practices which caused me to be injured in the first place, as i said just venting a little as they saying goes no pain no gain this made me realize that wal mart isnt someplace i want to be anymore so im stepping aside and letting someone that WANTS to work there have a shot at it.

Didn't you already get your "vacation" time?
AUTHOR: Bernadette - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, January 08, 2004
Wendy, I am very confused about why you feel so entitled to the vacation time that you accrued PRIOR to your work-related injury.
Injured or not, haven't you already received time off on the company's dime? Why do you feel that you are entitled to MORE time when you have already received a "vacation" by other means?
It seems to me like this is a case of "greedy employee" not an employer that is ripping its workers off.

YOU ARE WAY WRONG, employees should have the same respect and rights as anyone else in the store reguardless of what rank they hold

I appreciate the fact that i do have a job. BUT i do feel that all employees should have the same respect and rights as anyone else in the store reguardless of what rank they hold Its not fair to make rules up as you go, I was injured and thats why i lost my vacation time, yet other people take personal leaves and lose no vacation time. Some miss on a regular basis for trivial reasons yet i was injured ON THE JOB ( no fault of my own) so i was penalized twice by losing vacation time and holiday pay (based on hrs worked) So no i dont feel i am doing them a favor by working for them but a little consideration and respect goes a long way in how you feel about going to work and enjoying your job> Thats why im getting out and i think that if you had to walk even a half a mile in our shoes (at our store) youd see things a lot differently and i wouldnt care to bet your attitude would change greatly (unless you are a manager or higher. then this wouldnt apply to you because most managers hasnt a clue what goes on nor cares to know

What do you want from Walmart
AUTHOR: Francis - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, January 07, 2004
After reading your complaint concerning Walmart I feel that they were fair with you. I have noticed that your attitude seems to be that you did the business a favor by going to work for them. Perhaps you could inprove your lot in life by recognizing the fact that a business is the one doing the favor by hiring you. Seems to me that the West Virginia work force is permeated with the "someone owes me a living" attitude."
