Not so true my child takes Methylphenidate ER(generic Concerta) @ Dillions this Medication is $114/ KMart $ 142 Walgreens $30 I realize it depends on the type of medication.... Try using Good Rx website I have no insurance and they compare prices and give you a coupon to use for your scripts. (The said medication I got was without a coupon)

Call Ahead

There could be many reasons why it cost so much.  Every business has different prices for the medications, so something on the $4 at Walmart could cost $15 elsewhere.  Your insurance may not be covered by Walgreens (they recently had a fall-out with Express Scripts, and so if you fill there you have to pay the cash price), or the insurance deductible has been reinstated since the new year.

If you had 3 month scripts filled in December, and your deductible for the year had been met, your price would be cheap!  If you are now filling them with a new deductible due to the new year, of course it's going to be expensive.  Ask how much it would be for 1 months worth if that's the case.  It could be much much cheaper until you meet your deductible again.

There's no reason to throw a temper tantrum at the pharmacy.  You can always call ahead and price compare before deciding to transfer medications.  Or even call them afterward to see how much they are.  The technicians and pharmacist do NOT set the prices.
