I ordered a small table from Wayfair.com and it was to ship in 2-3 weeks.  I decided not to wait for it and requested cancellation of the order.  I was not aware at the time I cancelled that the item had shipped early because I never received notification that it had shipped.  However, since the item was on its way to me and could not be cancelled, I requested a UPS return label and agreed to be responsible for the shipping charges Wayfair had incurred to ship my order.

I received via e-mail a UPS return label and presented it to the UPS delivery person at the curb and the item never even made it off the truck; I never even had the package in hand before it was on its way back to Wayfair.  That was yesterday.

Today I received an e-mail indicating shipping charges to be deducted from my refund for the returned item are $64.

OK, I get that the company incurred charges and that I should pay those charges.  After all, I asked Wayfair to ship the item to me.  My changing my mind later should be at my expense, not theirs.

The problem I have is this:  The UPS label for the item shipped showed a package weight of 27 pounds.  However, the UPS return label Wayfair e-mailed to me showed that package to be 150 pounds.

How did this package gain so much weight from the time it left Wayfair last week to the time it arrived via UPS at my curb?  I never even physcially received it.  I never opened it.  Never repacked anything.  The weight of the package going back to Wayfair should be exactly the same as the weight of the package when it came to me from Wayfair.

I can only assume that a package at 27 pounds does not cost anywhere near $64 to ship so the weight on the UPS return label was purposely misrepresented in order for the company to justify charging me so much for shipping.

How unfortunate for Wayfair, since I am a person who does practically all my shopping online.  Had they treated me beter, Wayfair would have me as a customer for a good long time.  As it stands now, I will never order from Wayfair again and even when I shop on Amazon I will make it a point to avoid items that ship from Wayfair.
