SCAM ALERT!! --- WEDDING.COM --- SCAM ALERT
Wanted to try this site out as an experiment, and although the site looks slick and professional I had a difficult time figuring out how the charging works. It's easy to see what they charge as their plans are very plain to see--but it's not easy at all to find out exactly what a 'credit' or 'credits' actually buys you... and frankly I'm still not sure.
In the absence of any pricing information I finally 'sent' a test email to a random couple which brought up an error message saying it needed '3 Credits' to contact them. Fair enough I thought, for $50 I'll get to approach 16 or so brides and see what happens.
The problem of course is that buried deep in the Terms and Conditions is that it's a 12 month 'membership'... no trial period, no cancelation, you're SOL if you don't like it for any reason.
My fault for not reading the small print when the page popped up, but how many of us really ever do that? Any reputable business that is confident in their ability to generate you bookings would make it plain that they operate on a membership basis, and that if you sign up it's for a year, there is no cancelation possible. They would also print their pricing plainly too--not simply the amount they charge you.
Of course when I requested a cancelation, I was told they wouldn't do it! (what?? I can't cancel out of service I haven't yet had??) and it was then I realized this was an ongoing charge ($600 a year) that will auto renew every year unless I cancel it in writing. And I'll bet they don't take any notice of that either.
I have tried contacting the credit card company and although they tried to get wedding.com on the phone of course it's only a voicemail box and they 'will call you back'. Riiiight.
So Visa can't do much to help. So I have now contacted my lawyer and on principle, I will pursue this company until I get my cancellation. It will end up costing me more than the $600 a year membership, but now I don't care; I will also pursue them for my costs too.
I want these people exposed for the dishonest, disingenuous way they do business and I want other potential vendors warned. Wedding.com is sharp business practice at it's worst, and I'm now so angry and feeling so ripped off I am going to post this message on every available piece of media I possibly can. In the meantime I'll see what my lawyer says.
Incidentally, of the few leads I did try and connect with--nada.
CHECK OUT THE OTHER REVIEWS AND/OR GOOGLE THESE PEOPLE AND SEE IF I'M RIGHT
