We pretty much had the same experience as the first person with regards to Wellington Retreat.  My son was in bad shape when he got there and we had little choice.  Wellington was the only place that would take my son and continue him on his medication of suboxone.

He was also put on several other very strong medications as well.  Most of them we were not informed about until after he was already taking them.  The doctors and therapist made us feel like criminals if we called to inquire about our son or his plan of treatment. Wellington likes to say " The families are part of team"  Thats all BS wait until you try to find out anything, get a return call or e-mail from anyone.

Dr. Moran and his team seem good at first and when you are the parent of a drug addict or mentally ill child you don't know where to turn and Wellington Retreat uses that to their advantage.  I cannot count how many times that Wellington dropped the ball on my sons care or didn't follow up when they said they would.

Councilors come and go so fast its hard to keep track and they really pack them in there.  I know its not easy to care for these type of patients but Wellington does not return phone calls or e-mails for the most part and if they do they berate you if you ask about your child's well being or care under them.  My son finally had enough of the mind games and was dirty and unkept.  Wellington would not let us give him toiletries we sent him so he could wash before looking for work.

The box of toiletries are they are still there as is his medical insurance card.  My son finally reached his braking point when Dr. Moran followed him into the bathroom to tell my son he was going back to in patient and he either did that immediately or had to be out in an hour.  He is no longer there and the new facility is much less crowded.  They return calls and e-mails and he is no longer completely isolated.

Over all I think Wellington and there so called treatment plan did more harm than good.  My son is completely addicted to the drugs they prescribed and we are having a real hard time convincing my son that that was the wrong approach Wellington used with over medicating for compliance.

We are now trying to get him off of all the drugs that Wellington got him hooked on   Once your child is in the Wellington system good luck getting any information about him or her.  All you get is same BS line about they will die if you inquire about them or try to visit.  I was really disappoint to find out the truth about the care at Wellington.

They got me and my wife to drink the cool aid at first and buy into all their BS.  Any councilor who doesn't do exactly what they are told by Dr. Moran gets the ax.  In 3 months I cannot tell you how many councilors my son got bounced to.

This place is an accident waiting to happen and its just a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt or injured under their care.  Parents beware they will kick your kids to the curb the minute they don't comply and let your child die in street.  Many a child has spent the night or weekend on the street when they dared question the mighty Dr. Moran and his band of so called therapists.

They are drug addicts or the mentally ill and they are still your children regardless of their disease.  Wellington needs to really rethink their approach and start to treat the person not the symptoms.  You would want your pet to be treated the way Wellington treats the children under their care.

My child was violently assaulted at Wellington Retreat

AUTHOR: Unhappy Parent - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, June 25, 2012

A few weeks after I posted on this site Wellington Retreat contacted me after seeing the post.  Dr. Gregory from Wellington Retreat contacted me by phone out of the blue.

Since they threw my child on the street my child had bounced between Halfway Houses and IOP's .  Dr. Gregory said he was calling on behalf on Dr. Moran and they said they were very concerned about my child and wanted to" Bring him back" in the program.

Many things happened to my child after they went back to Wellington Retreat.  One of the many bad things that happened was my child was that he was violently assaulted in one of Wellington Retreat's halfway houses as he was sitting down for breakfast.

One of the other people who lived in the house came down to the kitchen and ambushed my child for no reason and beat him on head severely.

There was no staff there at the time and my child was punched in the head and knocked to the ground and then the patient straddled him and continue to punch him in the head until my child was able to finally get away.

He went outside and until the staff finally showed up they would not give him access to a phone for almost 30 minutes to call the police.

The police came and arrested the other patient.  Wellington Retreat has a no violence policy and the person was supposed to be thrown out.  Instead of that happening I understand Dr. Moran bailed the person out and brought him back into Wellington Retreat to interact with my child.

My son was denied proper medical care after the assault and instead of being taken to hospital he was taken to the clinical building.  They said he saw the doctor at clinical but when I asked for the records or anything else about the attack they would not send it to me.  They would not even take a picture of my child's face so I could see how he looked.

They put my child right back into the high stress program the next day and would not work with us to help him deal with humiliation he suffered at the hands of the another patient while sitting down for breakfast.

My child was thrown out less that a month later and has never been properly medically evaluated. He is showing signs of traumatic brain injury and we need to bring him back up here for proper screening.

I cannot write anything else for the moment.  Once official things are put in place I will post them here.

No matter what do not send your child to Wellington Retreat or any of their affiliated councilors or locations.  You will certainly regret it if you do.

Wellington Retreat making real improvements

AUTHOR: Unhappy Parent - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, April 02, 2012

Wellington Retreat has been making a real effort in both their treatment and communication issues.  I can honestly say I have seen a marked improvement.

Dr. Moran and his staff have gone above and beyond everything they have committed to do for my child's care.

When my child first arrived at Wellington 5 months ago I did not hold out much hope for his recovery.  While I did have issues with communication and some aspects of the way things were done at Wellington Retreat.

I have seen a dramatic improvement with the care my child is receiving at Wellington and really hope that these changes are permanent.

Dr. Moran and Dr. Gregory have personally assured me that they are doing everything possible to assist in my child's recovery.  From what I have seen in the last week Wellington Retreat and its staff are making real improvements.

Drug Sales at Wellington By Patients

AUTHOR: H - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, March 22, 2012

Stanley W. Wollard, Parent Guardian of Aaron Wollard Aaron reported to me, after his stay for help he never received at an astrinomical cost, that those in the program hoarded their Suboxen to sell other patients to get a high.  Suboxen is a drug to help those addicted to get off drugs.  But this facility, and you will note by other reports, over medicated and to know that those in the program are taking advantage of the ability to sell drugs to friends for their high.   This is not controlled or monitored as it should be for a good rehab facility to send your addicited loved ones.  Do Google this company to get reports from others.  CAREFULL.
