I leased my very first vehicle and was given Wells Fargo Auto Finance to handle my lease. I was a good on-time paying customer for 5 years.

When I was ready to turn in the car, I called them at least 10 times to make sure I understood all that was involved so as to avoid any hassles.

From the SECOND I turned the car in, they began harassing me. I see now that they want you to buy the car and if you don't they make it very difficult.
The salesman at the car dealership where I bought my new car even said they are harassing you and I don't know why!

They said if I turned the car in at a dealership I would have to pay a transportation fee, and that is ALL they said!

The dealership was paying the last 2 payments AND they were getting the car back 3 months early. They created such a hassle the car dealership was upset. They THEN did not pick up the car for over a month or inspect it. So they send a bill claiming all this damage, WITHOUT explaining WHAT the damage is. They just send a bill with NO explanation!

Since I turned in a perfect car, and two different salesmen at two different dealerships made mention several times of how perfect the car was, I disputed their claim and asked for proof.

Well, that led me on an almost 5 month tour of hell with Wells Fargo Auto Finance! I was lied to, yelled at, threatened with credit reports AND lawsuits and it was UNREAL!

I have never dealt with such a mean bunch of incompetent liars, each of whom would tell me different things. I was also barred from speaking with the manager. And... only offered a crummy xerox of just a windshield as supposed proof! And that took 2 or 3 months to get.

since it was my first lease I don't know if all lease companies act this way. but i will NEVER lease again and i will never deal with Wells Fargo bank in ANY capacity!

This type of treatment of customers should be illegal!

you missed the whole point

AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 06, 2005

i didn't want to write a 50 page report

they didn't itemize the damage
they would not provide proof when requested

they lied to me
they threatened my credit report after they said the amount was in dsipute and they wouldn't

they threatened to sue me and for attorney's fees

they said i HAD to give them my credit card number, they would not accept a check. that's not legal!

they did not anwser my questions properly prior to turn in. they changed their story several times.

these threats were made to me and my lawyer, that is not hearsay, yet the manager denied his employee would have said those things.

i talked to another guy who also got a bill for damages that was not itemized and when he complained they cut it in half.

that smaels of a scam to me. most people and corporations probably blindly just pay the bill.

just claiming damage and not sending an itemized bill or proof!

sorry but i won't let a company treat me that way.

i make them change their evil ways and make restitution to me.

you can just roll over and get ripped off, i don't!

Read Your Contract

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

There are a couple of things wrong with this post. When you lease a vehicle you sign a contract. In that contract, it spells out in black and white what YOU have to do at the end of the lease, to turn in your vehicle. In your post you don't mention what type of vehicle or what type of lease. Wells Fargo probably offers money to many different car dealers with many different types of leases. I turned in two vehicles on lease two years ago, one Ford and one vw(which sucked) and both had totally different end of lease requirements. I think WF could care less whether you bought or turned in the car. It isn't owned by them, they were just financing the lease deal. All leases have an end of lease payment, liquidation fee. On both of mine it was $250. You said the dealer was paying off the last 2 months and you turned it in 3 months early. Doesn't matter. You still owe them one month whether you turn it in early or not. You have to pay close attention to the time frame, it can get tricky. You didn't post how the inspection was done. That's your fault. When we turned in the vw, an independant inspector came to my place of business and inspected the car, with me watching and then handed me a clear copy of the inspection. Several hours later, we drove the car over to the dealer where it was leased, turned it over to them, got them to sign for the vehicle and that was that. No mess, no fuss. When we turned in the ford, drove it to the dealer, they inspected it and we turned it over to them and they signed for it. Again, no problem. I believe many of your problems are of your own making. The car should have been returned to the original dealer. If that couldn't have been done, I think many of the problems you are encountering are a result of dealership where you are buying your new vehicle. If there were threats by WF, I would imagine the last few payments weren't made on time. Anything else wouldn't make sense. That doesn't give WF the right to be jerks. Leases are ok if you follow the terms to the letter and don't go over the mileage.
