Wells Fargo Bank is posting transactions late at night, causing accounts to go into overdraft just before midnight. This is done after regular banking hours for the public. Example 1: By doing so, to prevent a overdraft fee of $35.00 you would need to get out of bed and go down to the bank drive though late at night to make a deposit. In most cases you will wake up to a overdraft status and OD fee the next morning unfortunately. Unless you can make a a online transfer to bring the account back out of a negative status late at night. Then you are restricted by Federal law to only five online transfers a month. Example 2: Wells Fargo Bank isn’t showing any overdraft status until you have the overdraft fee posted to your account. This prevents you from covering the negative balance on that same day. Even if you deposit enough money, they will still deduct the OD Fee indicating it was from the previous day. Example 3 ; I was charged a overdraft fee of $35.00 for being in the negative of $0.20 cents. But yet during the day there was never any overdraft status in dictated in my Checking account. I would think that all postings made by the bank would be indicated during normal banking hours during the day. So if there are any issues one can see that online and resolve any issues by making the deposit that same day to prevent a overdraft fee. This would be a wonderful why to resolve overdraft issues.

“to prevent a overdraft fee of $35.00 you would need to get out of bed and go down to the bank drive though late at night to make a deposit”

An easier way to avoid overdraft penalties is to stop writing checks and authorizing debits against unavailable funds.

“So if there are any issues one can see that online and resolve any issues by making the deposit that same day to prevent a overdraft fee.”

A properly maintained check register will reflect an overdraft quicker than the online information.
