Wells Fargo banks in the state of Washington are out of control!!!  Only in the state of Washington and one other state does Wells Fargo act in this manner.  Let's say I deposit cash money in my account in the amount of $200, before 4 p.m. on a Tuesday.  Then I go to the store and buy some things, for $50, get some gas for $40, and some food for $30, and purchase them on my debt card, after the cash deposit has been made.  The next day I go on Wells Fargo online banking to look at my account.  I receive 3 overdraft fees.  That is crazy!!!  Wells Fargo will tell you that in the state of Washington they deal with withdrawals first, (and the largest withdrawals first), then they apply the deposits.  I might have been OK if they had been check deposits, but I made a CASH deposit.  That is my money, and it doesn't get better than cash.  Yeah, I could have just taken the cash to those places, but I like my money to be in my account.  Wells Fargo is not there for us, only the money they can take from us!!!  There is nothing right about this method!!!

Re WELLS FARGO BANK Wells Fargo Bank overdraft fees in the state of Washington are BACK-A**ED!!! Lake Stevens, Washington

Hello Duane, this is a very simple question to answer. The reason why you received those fees is because the state of Washington has "certain" laws in regards to how they process deposits and asses fees. I feel bad for anyone in the state of Washington or New Mexico who have opened up checking accounts because the way that items are paid through the order of posting. The best thing for you to do is to visit your local congressman and complain to him and let him know how to feel. And do you want to know another thing about this? It's the citizens in your state who voted Yes on this law and accepted it..

Actually..there is something "right" about it..

It allows the bank to charge excessive fees. And it is done with intent..since how many customers once they deposit CASH..assume they can spend THEIR OWN MONEY as they see fit? The bank of course loves this..so it is "right" for them. For the customer on the other hand that doesn't know about this until it is too late...not so good.

Just keep spreading the word how this bank operates so maybe they (or the state) will change something before it ends up in court or a forced change is enacted through legislation, which can take time.
