Wells Fargo ripped me off for 13,500... Back in 2005 I made the mistake of signing for ex's car. We bought a 2002 Trailblazer with 10,000 miles on it for 17,000, that Wells Fargo financed for us. After a year of payments my ex let the car get repo-ed. After he left me upside down on everything with a 2 year toddler, I had to move back home with my father. I filed a Chapter 13 to try and regroup my credit. Wells Fargo filed a proof of claim for 13,484, which is not just not possible. After calling and calling, Wells Fargo took me that they sold the car at auction for $6,500. I know, the number just don't add up. They told me the differences was interested. If your ex only made one year of payments, not much of the principal would have been paid off. And then you have interest on the balance between the repo and your Chp 13 filing as well.
