There is literally no way that this company will be able to continue going forward without incurring some sort of serious class action lawsuit.  The most important thing I can share with you is PLEASE save your money.  There is absolutely no cohesion between departments and getting anything done with them is extremely time consuming and redundant.  They claim to offer "one on one faculty support", but please believe that you will have to speak with multiple reps to accomplish anything with them, whether it's tuition, term breaks, software, test taking, it really does not matter.  Everything will be difficult.  The hardest part of WGU is not the classwork; it is absolutely dealing with the fascist admin.  I was lucky enough to have tuition reimbursement through my employer, and they covered my losses, but, if you are going to be paying out of pocket or taking out a student loan, please choose a better school.

They claim to offer learning at your pace, but that is not what you will get with them.  You will get pressure and scare tactics to part with your money to avoid being penalized for taking time off, and in the end you will still lose.  Noone there will be willing to work with you or help you, because that is the type of for profit operation they run. If this message saves one person from wasting their time or money, then I have done my job.  The only thing I learned out of this experience is to avoid scams and WGU like the plague.  If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!  This school is a big, fat zero and right up there with Trump University.

Sounds like BS

AUTHOR: tratcliff22 - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 13, 2017

I recently graduated with my BBA from WGU. I took multiple term breaks and had no issues having them started or returning to school. I also had zero issues with software and test taking. Testing was a fairly easy procedure, login to the proctor site and take your exam. Upon completion log off and view your results. Learning is self paced as you get to decide when you study and do any coursework. Your mentor keeps in contact to motivate you to complete your assignments and ensure you are not getting stuck on any particular aspect of the course. The course mentors are fairly easy to get a hold of as well, I only had to contact them a couple times though. They would usually reach out to me through email at the begining of the course to introduce themselves and ensure I know how to get a hold of them. Due to the way the credit is set up you are required to complete 12 competency units or  "credits" every 6 months, which is longer than a semester at a traditional university. If you can not complete the 12 competency units you can lose your ability to receive financial aid. The tuition is also much cheaper than a tradition university.

Yes WGU is being sued

AUTHOR: Sue - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, April 23, 2017

WGU is being sued for employment discrimination. A law firm is taking the case on contingency. 20 years celebration and being sued. Wow- what a year for WGU

Let me know if a class action suit does happen

AUTHOR: Emily - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, March 10, 2017

I started attending this school last year, and have had nothing but problems. I already have a degree, and am having to retake classes because of semantics. Then when I take tests, the questions are not even questions that I've been studying with the mentors. If they actually wanted us to succeed, they wouldn't pull this on their students.

This is insane

AUTHOR: jenl - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, February 17, 2017

This is crazy. I read these reports in shock. I am currently a student and have been for the past two years. I have had nothing but positive experiences with all of whom have assisted me in my education. The staff has been nothing short of amazing. Extremely knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. The studies have not been all easy either. I would not say that EVERYTHING is difficult, as the previous writer suggested. This is absurd. It has been an extremely smooth process and not at all hard. The studies challenging, as they should be, but nothing has been hard in the process at all. I feel that I am getting a valuable education from WGU and I have gotten great assistance along the way. I can only imagine those that are begrudged maybe should have followed through on the study plan for which they signed up, and pulled their weight. Not expected others to do it for them, and then asked for their money back when they failed out? Just my thoughts.

There Will Be

I have tried way too many times to get things resolved regarding the way you guys defraud your students by spreading misinformation about your policies. Dealing with you people is like pulling teeth. It is only a matter of time before someone gets a class action suit together, and when that time comes, they are more than welcome to reach out to me. I have lots of evidence to support my claims. Just to reiterate, people, do not waste your money at this school. I would not be here sharing this with you, if I had anything positive whatsoever to disclose regarding my experience with WGU. The only positive aspect was the laughs shared with my employer over these fraudsters. There are great distance learning universities, and WGU is definitely not one of them. You would be better served to get a big stack of dollar bills and make it rain over a fire pit. At least that would be entertaining to watch.

No Class Action Suit Against WGU

AUTHOR: Western Governors University - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, March 07, 2016

Despite the headline of this post, there is no class action suit pending against WGU. We are focused on providing the best academic and administrative support to our students. WGU’s overall student satisfaction rate continues to be high—96% of students report that they are satisfied with their WGU experience, and over 90% say that they’d attend WGU if they had it to do over again. For us to be able to address your issues in a meaningful way, we need more specific information. Please email Joan.Mitchell@wgu.edu, and we will follow up.
