I have had a Western Union Prepaid visa card for over 8 years. This is the account that I use for my only source of income, My Social Security Disability. My disability check is direct deposited into this account every month. On September, 15 2014 I recieved a letter dated September 11, 2014 from Meta Bank, the bank Western Union contracts for its pre paid Visa and Master cards. The letter stated that my card number was at risk for unauthorized charges and that the card was now blocked from any further activity. This is the second time this has happened in three months. I immediatly called the customer service number as instructed on the letter. A customer service representative told me that they would issue a new card to me right away and that I would recieve it in 7 to 10 working days. No later then September 29th. On September 29th my small dog Ginger (A Dashound) had to go to the vet for what appeared to be constipation. It turned out to be something much worse. A disc desease that often affects dashounds. I was informed by the vet that the dog needed immediate sugery to correct this problem or she could end up paralized or worse yet have to be put down. I scheduled the surgery for October 3 2014. When I got home from the vet I was supprised to see that the new card had not yet come in the mail. I called Western Union to find out where my card was and was informed that it was mailed to my old address on September 16th. I informed the customer service agent of the issue with my dog and told her I needed access to my money. I was told by the representative that my only choice was to have another card issued and that I would have to wait another five to ten business days. I said to the customer service representative that (THEY) are Western Union. Surley they could make my money available to me at any one of thousands of Western Union locations by issuing me a money Control Transfer number. The Representative said that this was not possible. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor after hearing my situation stated that they could issue me a new card and expedite it at a cost of $25.00. I asked why I should pay a $25.00 expedition fee when this was a mistake on the part of Wetstern union. I also mentioned to the supervisor that that surley they could make the money available to me at a Western Union location. The supervisor said that that was not an option. The supervisor said that they would put in a request for the $25.00 fee to be waived and would issue the card immediatly.
Come Octpber 3, 2014 i looked in the mail box and still no card. I contacted Western union again and was told that there was no record of my conversations with the supervisor on September 29, 2014 and that no card had been issued. I was told again that they could reissue another card and have it to me in five to ten business days. I again metioned them making the money available to me via Money control number at a Western Union store. I was again told that this was not an option and again offered a new card in five to ten days. I asked again to speak with a supervisor and was again told by this supervisor that they would reissue another card and Expidite it to me in three to five days. Today is October 6, 2014 I have not recieved a new card. I contacted Western Union this morning and was given the same iddentical run around again from a representative. "We can issue you a new card today and you will have it in Five to Ten days." "A Money Control transfer number is not an option." Again I asked for a supervisor. (THE SAME RUN AROUND YET AGAIN!. At this point I contacted Meta Bank the issuer of the cards contracted to Western Union. They simply brushed me off with, "This is a Western Union problem. We have nothing to do with it."
At this point having been denied access to MY money for almost a month now and my poor dog now being compleatly paralized in the lower half of her body I am fumming mad. After great effort over a three hour period I finally gained access to someone actually in The United States at the Corpotate headquaters of Westen Union in Englewood Colorado. I explained the situation to him and he said he would find the right person who could get the job done today. After spending 20 minutes on hold he came back and said "Im transfering you to Lilly in our prepaid department. She will take care of this today." Lilly came on the line, took my information and offered me a new card mailed to me in Five to Ten days or an expidited card at a free of $25.00. OMFG! I told her to send me the card expidited and that I would go ahead later and sue for the $25.00 back. After she said she had ordered the card. I hung up and called back the corporate headquarters in Englewood Colodaro. The same man who transfered me to Lilly answered the phone. This time I used the fact that I am a retired reporter with contacts at CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC FOX and Univision and told him to transfer me to the media relations department. I told him that I was so mad now that I am doing a story on this experience with Western Union and Meta Bank. I was put on hold for approxamitly 15 minutes and was transfered to A woman named Chris Kelly in the media department. I explained to Miss Kelly what had happened to me, told her what my position is in the media as a well known freelancer is and that I intended to do a story on this issue. I asked her some questions about the supposed security breach that had originally started all this with the cancelation of my card. I asked what type of security breach? Was it on the magnitude of The Home Depot or Target security breaches. All my question were answered with a "I will have to do some research on that and get back to you. But Miss Kelly said she wanted to take care of my problem first and then she would answer all my questions pertaining to the story i was now in the middle of putting together. Miss Kelly said that she would contact the appropreate people in the Pre paid Card division and that I should expect a call from them in a half an hour and she would contact me with the answers to my questions after. With in the half hour time frame I recieved a call from the supposed head of the Pre paid card division who identified herself as Carrina. Carrina informed me that she would have my money available to me via Money Control Transfer Number able to be picked up at any Western Union Location with in a couple of hours and that I would recieve a call shortly conferming the transfer and giving me the number. That was approximatly 2 hours ago. I have yet to hear back from any one at Western union and I still dont have access to my money. I will probably have to put my dog down tonight. And believe me there will be a lawsuit here. I need a good Washington State or Colorado Civil Lawyer Willing to take on this case for mine and my dogs pain and suffering and medical cost associated with the delay of medical attention due to Western Union and Meta Banks incompitence.16:37:08 2014-10-06

Western Union Still not doing the right thing.

Yesterday when I first made this report. I had spoken with executives at Western Union who told me that they would be making my money available to me via a Western Union Money control Transfer. The transfer was never made. I still do not have access to my money. My dog is paralized due to a lack of medical access cause by Western Unions incompetence.
