Every time I've tried to make a reservation they are convienty booked. The only place I was able to use it at was a dump in Orlando. I bought the timeshare in Myrtle Beach being told that it was the same in Orlando, I was showed pictures of a nicer resort in Orlando. When I went to Orlando where I had actually bought at was the Towers, outdated, dirty, about the same as staying a motel six.
When I've tried to book a spot in Myrtle Beach (where I bought my timeshare) they are always busy. Everywhere else I've tried are busy as well.
I don't recommend anyone buying at Westgate, I have a couple of friends that have also purchased and they have the same issues

The inventory system is designed that way. The revenue managers hold weeks back for owners that go to the property, purchase, and choose to return this summer. If you would like to purchase additional ownership I am certain a week could be found for you to reserve.
By holding the weeks back this can be used as an incentive for owners to purchase additional time. If you are unable to use your week this year you can bank it to a future year for a fee.

Standard reply: the sales feature was the "ability" to use your westgate timeshare at other westgate resorts. We were in Myrtle Beach when they talked us into buying in Orlando Towers (a dumb) so we can still use it in Myrtle Beach, had they explained that we would Never Be able to use outside of Orlando we'd never bought at all. We so wish we could sell our share, it's SO NOT WORTH IT. Orlando towers was/is no where as nice as Myrtle Beach, or Park City or other resorts we've seen.
Even renting as you mentioned isn't available

Your timeshare is only designed to be used where you own and when you own. The exchange program is an option that is provided based upon availability.
As an organization we discourage owners from exchanging by implementing substantial exchange fees in our network however owners are still willing to pay anywhere from $150 up to close to $1,000 per year on top of their already existing costs to use this privilege. While these fees may sound like a lot it still hurts the company to allow these exchnages.
The true reason why you are unable to obtain availability is because Westgate owns portions of all the resorts. In Myrtle Beach for instance we own many All Season weeks. In order for our organization to recoup costs we take away from owner inventory in the summer months and make available for rental. It allows us to remain more profitable with our existing inventory.
I would suggest if you are unable to use your time to inquire about renting because we should have the time available if you are willing to pay for it.
