Buyer beware! I purchased a gym membership to workout world almost 2 years ago.. I loved the fact it was affordable, when I went in to sign my contract I was told it was 75.00 to start and within the 75.00 my last month was included, my monthly fee was only 19.99! After using my membership for 6+ months I took my daughter to the childcare that was available, mind you I only took her once! After about 8 months of monthly payments, I started getting charged an additional 2.00 per month to my debit card, I contacted WOW (workout world) to ask why I was being charged more money every month, the representative on the phone seemed annoyed I was asking and had informed me it was a new flat fee for childcare. I explained I really didn't want the extra fee and normally I went while my daughter was at school, and I proceeded to ask why I was not informed of the monthly increase and I was told an "email" was sent notifying me. I new received any email regarding the new childcare fee, and I immediately asked to speak to someone regarding this. I was given a phone number to member services. I called member services and to my surprise no one answered or returned my calls for over a month. At this point I was done and wanted to cancel my membership. Within the first year a cancelation would cost 100.00 and at the time I didn't have the money. I waited until my one year mark and in February 2013 I went and canceled my membership. I was to that I could be charged up to the next 30 days. However, I canceled my membership within the first week of the month and was willing to pay a prorated amount to just walk away, of course that wasn't going to happen. I was charged 24.00 which is 2.00 more the. My normal payment on the 1st of march, even though my deposit had my last months payment. I canceled my debit card just so they couldn't continue to withdraw money from my account. Once April 1st came around once again WOW attempted to withdraw another months payment! Member Services has been calling me at least 3 times a week trying to collect my payment. I finally had enough and answered the phone. Worst idea ever! The man on the phone was extremely rude and once I asked to speak to his manager I was informed there are NO managers and all employees are equal! REALLY? Doubt that! Worst thing I ever did was get involved with that gym. My non payment is now up to 60.00 and its only been one month and are turning me into a collection agency.
