I decided to quit the MMORPG I was playing, Everquest 2, and that I would try to sell the account to recoup some of the costs incurred from playing it.  I went to gametag.com because it seemed that with a little bit of coaxing they were in general pretty decent to their customers, however this is not the case.  I have been nothing but disgusted from day 1 with my interaction with this company.  I submitted my request to sell my account to them back on the 9th of August, it has been 15 days.  Their original quote asked me to be patient for 24 hours while they arrange payment, 15 days later, I still have received nothing from them.  They IMMEDIATELY changed my login information, and the email used to reset my account when I first submitted my account.  Any and all attempt to contact this company has been met with generic automated response telling me repeatedly to be patient.  I have not even gotten a response to the last several follow up emails I have sent to them.  I need a prompt response to this most legitimate grievance that I have. I'll reserve a small amount of hope that maybe this company is not defrauding me, and they are merely incompetent, and incapable of doing anything in a timely manner.  Below I provide the emails that have been sent to me by this company. I'll await your response, gametag, it's your move.

(Now, every time I attempt to contact them, I will only receive this vague generic email response, if I even do get a response, saying that it has been changed to "assigned to agent" and I should be patient waiting for my payment.)

You don't follow agreements

AUTHOR: Just or Unjust - ()

POSTED: Saturday, November 09, 2013

You're missing the key points of what everyone is trying to tell you. You started this by not following the agreements of the game companies. You and nobody else. You then say gamertag didn't pay you. They have no reason to pay you, it's not yours. Two wrongs don't make it right. They could have taken your stuff and ran. They didn't. You then say they scam their buyers. I thought you were a seller or are you both? How did they scam you when you said yourself they didn't take anything from you? From my perspective, you're absolutely the bad guy here. By all means show us where in the game companies agreement they say you can sell your account. They don't. They say you specifically you can't yet you actually try to defend your actions saying it's okay, "it's a digital account, It is not a physical item I stole from the game developer." blaming others, calling others retarded, and yet you feel you're a victim. If you expect the world to agree with you, then you need to follow the rules first.

Clearly you are retarded

AUTHOR: Ricky - ()

POSTED: Saturday, November 09, 2013

Troll somewhere else, your retardation is not needed here.  How much is gametag paying you to post this ridiculous nonsense?  It is absolutely incredible that someone as incompetent as you can even handle operating a computer let alone signing up for internet service.  Again, going over the facts. I sold an account to gametag.  Gametag repeatedly refused to pay me, and you think I'm the bad guy.  How much are they paying you to post this?  This is a scam website.  A scam.  A website that scams their buyers.

They take accounts, and do not pay people.  You can tell by the other 50 reports regarding them on here.  All with the same complaints.  I should have showed more caution before trying to jump into this transaction because boy were they all right.  They refuse to pay for the account they promise to pay for, they come up with every excuse in the book as to why things have been delayed, and then they try to bully their sellets into giving them login information to rip off reports, when a report is filed regarding their attempted theft.

So how is it again that I am the bad guy.  It is a digital account.  It is not a physical item I stole from the game developer.  It is no worse than selling a game disc to someone.  This is an additional reason that makes what gametag is doing even more sketchy.  I have absolutely no recourse to reclaim my account properly.  The ball was entirely in gametags court and they did nothing at all to make me feel more secure about the transaction

they approached the dispute with a blase attitude of returning me repeated automated pre-canned emails with no specific information in them, or requesting information that they had already been provided.  Again explain how I'm the bad guy.  I am clearly the victim here.  Thank god they finally gave me back my account.  All I lost in the end was weeks of stress and headaches.  Do not involve yourself with this company.  For that matter, do not involve yourself with ripoffreports either, as apparently 90% of the people who post on here are trolls who get off by attacking people who file legit grievances.  The end.  That's all.

You caused your own nightmare Ricky

AUTHOR: Nick - ()

POSTED: Saturday, November 09, 2013

This is the most hilarous report I have read on RipOffReport. A seller flaming a buyer when the seller is trying to sell something that doesn't belong to them.

You caused your own nightmare @AUTHOR - Ricky. Your inability to read game publishers agreements is what caused this problem. Nobody here is going to feel sorry for you so quit crying and whining. You're not supposed to be selling what you're selling, it doesn't belong to you. Someone already replied to you telling you this, you didn't listen. Instead you skip over what they said which really shows your true character either being a hard headed person or someone that is too young to understand how agreements work.

Your ebay example is hilarious. You're not allowed to sell what you're trying to sell on ebay. If caught, you will be removed from ebay. If you are actually selling an item that belongs to you, buyers can wait to pay sellers and they can also dispute payments 45 days after the transaction. This is why so many sellers complain about using ebay. The buyer can basically leave a negative feedback and take the item without paying. Buyers have all the rights on ebay. Buyers are always right.

In this case, you're a seller selling something that doesn't belong to you and actually flaming the buyer. Incredible. The worst part is they were actually willing to pay. If this was ebay as you said, the buyer would tell you to get lost and leave you a negative. You don't treat your buyers like that. You clearly don't understand the foundation of how business works. Ever heard of the "the buyer is always right". Clearly not. You could care less about your customer and because of that you lost a sale.

I don't condone with what they do as you're both not reading game publishers agreements but to come on here crying over a delayed payment which everyone makes at least once in their lifetime and acting like they are the worst for that is just hilarious. Imagine if everyone filed a RipOffReport on late or delayed payments, you'd have 10 billion reports. Then you rant on about how they would be jailed for this. You have no clue what you're talking about.

Your inability to read agreements both with the game publishers and likely with them and your hard headed mindset is what caused this nightmare. Then again just like the other guy said, you'll ignore this and continue to blame others. A seller bashing a buyer over an item he doesn't own. Pretty sad. You won't find that on ebay. Like the other guy said, talk about sleezy!

Nightmare

AUTHOR: Ricky - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, November 06, 2013

This entire experience was a nightmare.  The main goal of their legal team contacting me was to pressure me into giving them the login information to my ripoff reports account.  They did eventually return my gaming account to me when I requested cancellation of the sale.  However, there was no initial need for any of this.  Your tardiness caused the problem.  I'm sorry it takes your "company" weeks to process a payment for a customer.

It is truly regrettable that you can't do proper business.  All I wanted was prompt payment for something that had already been given over to you.  If I sell something on ebay, I don't wait 3+ weeks for a response regarding payment following sending the item in question to the buyer.  I for one will never even consider doing business with this website again, and no one else out there should either.  They will make you regret giving them a chance.

Proposed Terms, Then Backed Out. Can't Buy From You When You Plan To Take Back The Account. Later Cancelled And Submission Was Voided.

AUTHOR: Response - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, November 06, 2013

This message is to Ricky Siracusa:

I will note that we are the buyer of this transaction. As a buyer our top priority is that the products we purchase must be secure and have no issues prior to payment otherwise we can't proceed as the product we are acquiring would be a liability.

I will note that between the dates of August 9 to August 30, at no point did Mr. Siracusa ever request for his submission to be cancelled. We have clear directions stated in all initial e-mails sent to him along with directions found on our support page. Had he requested the submission to be cancelled, we would have proceeded accordingly.

On August 9, 2013, Mr. Siracusa submitted his account to our company. On this same day, we sent 2 e-mails out to him confirming his contact and payment information was accurate. On this same day, Mr. Siracusa replied back to just the Contact Information e-mail.

On August 11, 2013, we assigned his order to an agent.

On August 17, 2013, we reattempted to send another Pending Payment e-mail out to him. We never received a reply back.

On August 27, we attempted for the 3rd time to send another Pending Payment e-mail out to him. This time we received a reply. Upon receiving his reply, his order was moved to pending payment.

On August 28, we received notice of a dispute initiated by Mr. Siracusa. Our legal department reached out to him to get this issue resolved and put his submission on hold pending his reply and resolution.

Between August 29 to August 30, we had multiple conversations with Mr. Siracusa through phone/email. During our communications with Mr. Siracusa, the dispute he initiated brought a concern to us as he mentioned multiple times his intentions to recall the account and we brought up our concerns that being the buyer, we have to safeguard what we are purchasing.

Unforunately, we couldn't come to terms with Mr. Siracusa. His priority was getting paid 100% first before any and all disputes with the product were resolved. We even offered to pay 50% up front if his concern was about getting paid but he didn't want that option. He finally opted to use the cancellation policy on his submission and his submission was cancelled and any and all access was restored to him.

We would have been happy to do business with Mr. Siracusa paying him if he allowed us to proceed. However, after multiple disputes he initiated and his unwillingness to move forward with terms he proposed to us on August 30 which he later backed out, he gave us no option to proceed. No harm was done to him, and he took nothing from us. We simply couldn't come to terms as the account was too much of a liability for us to purchase with all pending disputes.

It's really simple. If you have any issues, we have vip@gametag.com setup to address these. If you want to cancel your submission, clear directions are stated on the website. Mr. Siracusa never used any of these until the very last day.

Are you kidding me?

AUTHOR: Ricky - ()

POSTED: Monday, August 26, 2013

This is a website designed in full to buy and sell these accounts.  They have stolen from me, and you're trying to call ME sleezy?  First of all, violating a mmorpg's ToS has nothing to do with the law and is NOT a felony.  You clearly know nothing about the law.  If that were true the people who operate this website would have been put in jail years ago.  While they SHOULD be jailed, it is for different reasons.  Fraud is a serious crime, and claiming you are going to pay for someone's account then refusing to do so is FRAUD.  I will gladly post on here that this company has followed through and paid me what they owe me if they ever decide to do so.  Here's to hoping.

Talk about sleezy!!

AUTHOR: Tyg - ()

POSTED: Monday, August 26, 2013

First YOU DONT OWN THE ACCOUNT!! The nice ppl at EQ2 do. You paid a membership fee in order to play. You are screwing EQ2 out of money and rights that are thiers and thiers alone. Doing this is makes you one of the biggest sleezeballs out there. So now that you are done with this game you plan on selling it. IN DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE TERMS OF USE!! You do realize that you are attempting to PROFIT off of someone elses intellectual property and that is a felony. The only money you are actually out is NONE!!!! The monthly fee was a MEMBERSHIP fee. YOU OWN NOTHING WHEN YOU PLAY A MMORPG.

Then again why bother telling you all of this. You have given enough information in your post that all EQ has to do is file for a court order against all accounts held by that website. And then they will have ALL of your personal information. You can explain to the Judge why you felt it was "alright" to do this. The lawsuit will be EPIC.

POSTED: Monday, August 26, 2013

I have gotten in contact with one of this company's agents yesterday, who told me my submission has been changed from "Assigned to agent" to "Awaiting Reply" This means that they are now waiting to get more information from me. I have already filled out everything they would possibly need to complete this order. I was told in earlier emails that they had everything they needed and I would only have to wait for them to pay me. This agent suggested I have received emails regarding missing information from my submission. There was no missing information. She offered to forward these emails to me so I can get all required information to them, and they can push the sale through.  I requested that she does this, and she informed me I could also sign onto their website to request this information too. now 13 hours later I still do not have a new email from them regarding this "missing" information. My login to the web page is also now invalid so I can no longer check on my order status.  My email is still registered with them, so I cannot create the account again, they have merely changed my password so I can no longer access the website.  This reeks of scam in every imaginable way. I need someone to rectify this immediately.

Greetings, Thank you for your submission. You can also request for these e-mails to be sent to you from your GameTag Member Control Panel depending on the access you have with your Members Account. Meanwhile, I will have these resent to you shortly.
