My husband Hiram, and myself returned to eyeglass world because he was haveing problems seeing distance and close up. Upon arrival, we were helped by their General Manager, Tim S., right from the beginning the young man was arrogant, he asked the same question over and over. My husband anwered him told him I can't see out of these glasses, I have to keep moving them to focus when I'm reading. I have to lower them when I watch T.V..
Several times my husband answered the same question. Then, he, Tim, stated, there are other issues here besidws the glasses, are you diabetic, or do you have high blood pressure? We then told him, he had cataract surgery, he states, well, there's your problem. By this time my husband was getting frustrated, told him I'm going to put through that wall if ask me again, which I know was inapropriate. Tim stands up and tell him bring it on.
All Tim had to do was, leave the glasses, let me check them, and I'll get back to you. It was our problem, not theirs. Earliar that day we had the glasses checked at another facility, and the lady stated the bi-focal line was too high.
I belive Tim, acted in and unprofessional manner. He should of just told Hiram, sir, please leave, and come back when you are calmer. It was easier for him to pass the buck, that it was our problem, than fix the glasses.

This is how it works......

We were instructed to avoid refunds and remaking glasses at all costs. If there was something definitely wrong with the glasses, like in your case - the bifocal line placed too high, we were told by upper management to avoid remaking by bending the frames to lower them on the face. When I was a manager, I probably did more remakes then any other store. Why? Because I appreciated the value of someone's dollar and wanted to deliver on my personal promise to making you see better. I know that I jeopardized my job by doing it, but I didn't care. I didn't want to rip anyone off, or worse yet cause them to have even poorer vision.
The problem boils down to this: As a manager, you are instructed to finding the cheapest possible labor. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. I was lucky because when I took my store over, I had a great team. The ironic part is that they were all weeded out for less qualified inidividuals rather than giving them raises after a year.
The training on something as complex as optics and vision is generally conducted by the person that has been there the longest. In most cases, the person training has very little knowledge of the optical field.
Management is focused on one thing, PROFIT, not your ability to see. Shady and underhanded business practices are required to be an Eyeglass World manager.
My suggestion to you on this matter is to take it back to the Eyeglass World that you purchased them from. As to speak to the Licensed Optician. Have him or her check your glasses. If you get the run around from them, have the Doctor on duty check your glasses. They are required by law to give you an accurate reading. The manager in this store as well as most Eyeglass World locations is a puppet. If the License and the Doctor give you the same story, you have two options. I suggest doing both. You can log a complaint against the parent company Vision Care Holdings at www.bbb.org . Believe me, they WILL pay attention. They plan to make this a publicly traded company and can not afford any blemishes on their record. Secondly, contact your State Medical / Opttical board. They are required to investigate every claim of malpractice. Both the License as well as the Doctor face stiff fines and possible loss of practicing privelege. It is very worth your time.
I hope this helps you out.
