I got an unsolicited call to extend my warranty. My car had a six year 100,000 mile factory extended warranty. The warranty expires soon. So I get this phone call from this landline number 206 496-0425. I aksed three times and they would not tell me the company they were calling from. Then they switched me to anohter guy..and then yet another. They told me they were going to record my call and I had to validate the shape of my car..Depending on my answers I could qualify for extended warranty A or B. They were nice enough. BUT they HUNG UP ON ME. They asked me to do them one favor, to let them know at the end of the call whetrer or not I wanted the service. I said I would likely NOT make a decision until I could (do due diligence) look them up on internet. They BAILED.
OK..so then I waited until comcast told me who called me..and looked them up. They have zero internet presense. I called them back and they were not taking calls. DO YOU THINK I SHOULD PAY MONEY TO AN UNSOLICITED CALL....with ZERO internet existence and I never heard of? Of course not.
So then I read...50% of what you pay for an extended warranty goes to commission. Fifty percent. I want to be in that business. I partner with you. I get half the money and you get half..but you got to do the work. SWEET.
They would NOT answer any questions such as general quote..but instead kept transferring me from one sales guy to another.
They called me. I did not call them.
I'm posting this so if you get a call...their phone number will be on record and you might think twice.
You could probably save money by buying direct..and sorry I dont know whpo from becuase they hung up on me.
Most studies show extended warranties are nto worth it.I would have gladly considered it..if I was delaing with a reputable company, and if I could look into it.I REFUSE to be badgered into making a decision from someone I dont know ...today today today.
I did get ripped off. They wasted my time.I hope I did not waste yours. If you are in for an extended warranty...think twice. Find out who will service the contract. Sometimes you can only take it to the dealer who sold the warranty. Usually the contract is NOT tranferable...so if you are planning on selling the car then may not be worth it.
I'm not an expert in this area...but we did get a crappy extended warranty from Sears Home Improvement. I'm very leery of any repair warranty. DO NOTR expect it to be like the manufacutrer warranty. SEARS sold a wearrnty but they do not service it..he he he. You got to file a CLAIM form with a third party..then two months later...if you keep after them they turn you down anyway. Always due what is called "professional skepticism". Play devils advocate and look for dissatisfied customers.
I've tried to be honest with you about 206-496-0425. They hung up on me...as soon as I said I was probably unwilling to make an immediate decision. They did not bother telling me the cost. I'm guessing we are talking $500 to $1,000 commission. I'm real skeptical. Call them and they say "the number you are tyring to call is temporarily unavailable. Please try your call later".
I've never heard of them. Won't tell me who they are. Won't tell cost. Phone number not listed. They don't answer they phone and they hung up when I said I wasn't going to be pressured ionto a decision. Hmm.
