In July 2017 we signed a contract with Adair Homes. Since we are a GC, and own a construction company specializing in exterior, NOT new construction, we decided to hire Adair Homes. We agreed to install an upgrade of both the siding and roof at our cost! It was going to be a win-win for both parties. Around Sept 2017 I made a technical mistake (NOT financial), and my credit score dropped just 6 points below standards when we were in underwriting. Our price lock was good until 11/10/2017 yet had to go on hold for 3 months. There were two price increases for 2018. One for $5k in Jan. then a $4k in March 2018 that we knew we were subject to. Our financing was good to go and went through in March, yet Adair Homes was like pulling teeth to get anyone to respond. The turnover, terrible communication, unanswered emails, phone calls, questions, and constant inconsistencies (I have a provable timeline btw), was frustrating to say the least. We had already gone far enough into the process so we were patient and understanding, until we had a meeting with Eric at Adair Homes on Sunday May 6th. Literally the meeting started out with a statement of "well, your contract is now $34k more”, with a smug smile on his face. He then laid down an entirely brand new contract and seemed to be very perplexed with any kind of knowledge to our prior contract whatsoever. As we tried to question and find out what happened to our original contract, and why all the inconsistencies, our Adair "Pre-construction Administrator” all of sudden was "just his secretary” !? After he then said you can either 1. Sign the 34k price increase or 2. Go somewhere else…It became clear what kind of tactics were being used. Adair will do a bait and switch then strong arms families into paying more money instead of starting over. Adair Homes should NOT be trusted, plain and simple. This review waited because we did go to corporate regarding everything. They tried to return our $2,300 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit in exchange for silence and a contract termination. We said no. Guess what everyone! Matsell’s will be building our house along with help from some wonderful members within our community! So remember, Don’t Waste Your time with Adair, better go elsewhere.
