bought a policy from AFLAC. I was told that it covered accidents, short and long term disability. i had that warm fuzzy feeling that my family would be covered in a time of need.
As it turns out i did need to use AFLAC. i recently was put on bedrest for a high risk pregnancy. (which is suppose to be covered by AFLAC). after waiting 14 days i mailed in my request for payment, that was on Oct. 1, 2007.
After waiting another week they finally started on my claim. Then after a long wait i received a letter in the mail stating they had not received the "statement of physician".
So i faxed the paper again. After waiting several days for them to processes the fax, i called to check on the claim status. They had received the first one that was faxed, but it was not filled out right. So more time is wasted. It is now Oct 16, 2007 i have my doctor to fill out the from again. On Oct. 17, 2007 i faxed the paper back to them.
On Oct. 20, 2007 my claim was denied!!!!!
before buying this policy i asked the agent if high risk pregnancy was covered if i had to be put on bedrest. She told me they would not only cover bedrest but they would also pay you for maternity leave. but for you to be paid for maternity leave you must deliver ten months after the policy went into effect. She said that bedrest was covered 30 days after the policy went into effect. mine was in effect way longer than that. by about 7 months.
Please do not waste your money and hope on AFLAC. They offer a false security blanket. They lie about what their policy will cover. now i have 3 kids to support and no income.

This website is vital. Consumers need help sometimes, and this site is vital if the consumer needs help resolving an issue where the company/employer fails to do the right thing. Yes, as with anything you sign your name to, read it. If you don't ask questions, then, if later you have problems you will know who what and where the blame needs to go. Sales people like uneducated buyers. It makes there job easier. But an educated consumer will make the sales person work harder. Remember the old saying, knowledge is power! AFLAC is a ethical company. But remember, company. And every company wants to make money, not pay it out. So to end, read the policy. Ask questions. And as always, refer this website to everyone you know. Because here, the consumer, you have the power!

If your agent lied...

If you can prove your agent lied (there was other employees around I'm sure) and the agent also lied to other employees... report this agent to the local RSC office in Garland.
http://aflac.com/us/en/find_sales_office.aspx
You can claim againts the agent's E&O insurance if you can prove they lied to you and other employees at your company.
Did you ask your agent to help file your claim? I help my policy owners WHEN THEY ASK.
If you're a prospective Aflac policyowner or a business owner considering Aflac, ask a real policy owner or business client the benefits. Don't go here.
Aflac agents can only offer the plans. If employees buy the wrong coverage or don't want to listen to the benefits overview, it's not the agent's fault.
Make sure you ask the agent any questions you don't understand. You're not stupid for asking. Agents took classes, had to get licensed, it's there job to know, not yours.
But an informed policyowner is a very happy one. Also you can get references by contacting your local RSC.

Smart shoppers don't shop here. Go to the source. Aflac is bound by laws, and can't stay in business ripping off their client base.

Claim was paid!
AUTHOR: Jaysonlee - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, November 26, 2007
Can someone tell me why the person posting this is all about blaming Aflac when it was truly a case of Aflac not receiving the correct information to process the claim? Additionally, why hasn't the person come back to clarify that they have now been paid because the company finally got the information that was necessary to process the claim? The insured received over $3,000.00 in benefits.
