These guys like to call you at work. When you work retail and someoen calls asking for the manager, we usually assume it to be a customer, so we dont screen calls. SO i answer and before i know it they are putting a sales pitch down my throat. The knee jerk reaction I have at home to hang up did not kick in at work, because it's not something we normally do at work. I was in the backroom, which is a bit noisy and sometimes could hardly hear them. they wanted to offer me 6 FREE magazine subscriptions for 5 years, their only request was that i give them to other people when i am done with them, that this was paid for by the publishers and advratisers to get their magazines out. The htye slip in the "small shipping fee" of $2.15 cents per month, later on they mention that it was $2.15 for each of the six magazines. before you know it, bam they telll you your under verbalcontract, they tape record and archive the conversation and they graciously double bill you for hte first three years 26 per month for 30 months as oposed to 13 for 60 months. they will call you at work, home, school, cell, and they are relentless. from what i hear they mercylessly sue anyone who trys to cancell or make a big stink, they have a big shot new york law firm to terrorize people from what i understand. Isuggest everyone add their work, home, cell, or any phone number anyone could reach you at to the do not call list on donotcall.gov

""Isuggest everyone add their work, home, cell, or any phone number anyone could reach you at to the do not call list on donotcall.gov""
IF you are NOT under seige by telemarketers I would NOT add your phone number to the do-not-call registry because that registry conveniently makes all not-for-profit organizations and political organizations EXEMPT.
Further, these exempt agencies use the do-not-call list as a listing of real phone numbers to call when they make their pitch for charity or campaign contributions.
Now, wasn't that nice of our elected representatives? NOT!

They don't care about the Do Not Call list...

I posted yesterday about calling the BBB, but thought I would double check the Do Not Call registry as you suggested... the number they called is already in there, so they should not have called it in the first place. As an additional suggestion, if your number has been added to donotcall.gov and you have been called anyway, file a complaint on the do not call website. I just did that today, as well. It won't get your account with these people canceled, but it will let the registry know that Allied is not doing what they are supposed to do.

I filed a complaint with the BBB of New York and Allied Publishers Service Of Mid Atlantic States of course responded saying it must be "buyers remorse" but that they would cancel my account!
It doesn't matter to me what they think my reasoning is... it got my account canceled and that was all I wanted!
