I joined Ballys for my girlfriend and myself in Hollywood, Ca. When we received our sales pitch we were lied to and misled. It was important for me to join a club that had racquetball, and the Hollywood Ballys did not have any. The salesperson assured me that even though the Hollywood gym did not have raquetball many others in the area did.

I shortly found out that no Los Angeles area gyms had raquetball. When I contacted the headquarters with this complaint of being lied to I was told that it was my responsibility to investigate this myself.

I told him that it would be near impossible for me to go to every Bally's in the Los Angeles area to investigate, and that the big problem was that there sales person lied to me in order to get me to sign a contract. He responded by repeating his first statement and adding that unless I had a audio, video, or written proof these were all just alligations. They showed no concern for the posibility of a customer being lied to
by one of their employees.

I realized that I had signed a contract and that I was basically stuck with this membership until I noticed some unauthorized charges on my checking acount.

I had two additional charges of 41.50 on my checking acount statement. When I called them about this they told me they had no record of these charges and to fax them the paperwork and they would investigate and call me back. I never was called back.

I called them again and they said they never received the fax (which I sent from their club). I then sent them a copy of the paper work with a letter explaining the problem (via certified mail). I also stopped payment on the account and told them that I would continue payment when this problem was resolved.

The only contacts that I have received from ballys is phone calls trying to collect debt. When I tell them that I still have not heard a response to my inquiry they don't care, they just tell me that I am responsible for the payments.

One employee told me that they had sent me a reply with my authorization for these charges. I told her that I had not received this letter and to please send me another copy. To my surprise they never sent it.

Now a year and a half later I still am receiving letters trying to collect this money, but I have never received a explanation of these overcharges.

Ballys uses decptive sales techniques, and provides zero customer service. They are cheats and con artists.

I would love to be able to take action against them. I don't expect my money back, but would love to save my credit and save other people from getting stuck in this trap.
