I am canceling my membership with Bally's. Unlike many complaints here, I am well within my rights to cancel my agreement. I am in no way tied to the iron clad agreement. I have been a member for 3 years and have done my time. My intention was to join a different club just for a change. I agreed to put my account on "hold" for 4 dollars a month. Now, I am trying to cancel it completely because I like the new club that I joined, as I write this, I have been on hold for 1 hour and 33 minutes. Every time I call, the wait has been well over 25 minutes. This is the only time that I am actually talking to a customer service rep (Richard) who gave me the usual scripted offers that they give to leaving members. Once I got a hold of someone, they immediately canceled my agreement. The reason that I am writing this is that I believe that there is no reason why a company like this should be putting anyone on eternal hold on the phone just because they are leaving the company. I feel that this is poor service and can even be deemed somewhat shady.
