CBCS account #98294311 I was reported to the credit bureau and this is not my account and they put something negative on my report when we have been living overseas for the last 18 months. Columbus, Ohio

The company CBCS reported negative information to my credit when I have never lived at the address provided and apparently is a bill collection for cable (Direct TV) I believe this is a scam targeted to military families since we live overseas and is so hard to solve issues they take advantage of our information. The person provided the following address:

claiming that we owe cable for this address.
My spouse and family have been living overseas for the las 18 months and there is no way we could have activated an account for cable during that period in Ohio.

The address you cite is CBCS' because they're out of Ohio. Also, collection agencies don't open up accounts, they just collect delinquent accounts.
You should file a dispute letter or call them to dispute it.
