I have two friends who worked for Covenant Transport for nearly a year, their truck broke down in Louisiana. They got to a Petro Truck Stop and were told to get their belongings off the truck and take a bus home for the holidays. This is no way for a Christian Co. to operate. They could at least sent them another truck to get home with. I worked for Covenant back in the spring. I was ready for hometime and had to find my own way home. Meanwhile, my co-driver was able to drive our truck to his home in Houston. I was told by our dispatcher Mitch Varnell that they never have any freight going to Albuquerque, NM.

SEND A TRUCK UPS?

At least your friends were told that they could go home for the holidays. How should Covenant "send" them a truck? By UPS? By Fed EX? I have no idea what happened to their truck and I have no idea if there was a truck anywhere in the area for them. Perhaps that truck also needed repairs. Perhaps there were no trucks available for 3 - 4 days or 3 - 4 weeks. While Covenant may not have much or any freight going TO Albuquerque they do have freight going through there all the time. As for you and your partner, well 2 drivers and 1 truck - only 1 can take the truck home. As much freight as Covenant does across the US the should have been able to find a load that got both of you home or at lease one of you very close and the other could then actually take the truck home also.
All companies play this game but yes Covenant is very bad to do it to most teams.

IF THIS ISN'T NOT ANOTHER RIPOFF CULT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS.
THIS JOINT SOUNDS MORE LIKE A CULT THAN A RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION.
YOU PEOPLE SHOULD FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR TIME THAN INVEST IN A CHRISTIAN CULT-LIKE ORGANIZATION.
DIRECT QUOTES FROM THEIR "CLAN"....YEAH RIGHT!!!
"our values"
"Commit to CARE culture"
"our culture is unique"

Before I decided to go w/ Covenant, I read a few bad things here and there on the internet about them. I justfigured that it wasdiscruntled employees, basically.
I started w/ my trainer, Tom Boyd, on Dec. 10th, 2010 and WOW... what an imbasil! After being sexually haressed, belittled, embarressed, and endangered, I decided I couldn't stand being on the same truck w/ him. I have documented all instances as well. So after a month, I emailed dispatch on the night crew and they said I had to go through the day crew. Sunday, I called the day crew, they put $50 on my comdata card and I got a motel. The following day, I was informed I was let go because I didn't follow company procedure and that I left the truck while we were under a load. First of all, I didn't even know we were under a load. Apparently, Tom got it and didn't tell me. And top that off, the load was only 30miles and at the time we got the load, we were in Hutchins, Tx. terminal for 3 days. Also, the load wouldn't be ready for pick up until the following day. They could put this on my DAC as load abandonment! Can you believe that?
I would love to give a nice description of all the incidents that happened while on that truck. Tom Boyd shouldn't be a trainer, let alone be a driver of a HUGE vehicle like that. I was only his 3rd student and the others felt the same way I do.
I have sent a letter to Jimmy Shields, Joey Hogan, and Michelle Olk (HR) to see if they do anything. The letter to Ms. Olk is purely for complaint reasons. If there is nothing done about this, w/ the complaint I have made, I will file to higher resources. I don't care if this takes me the rest of my life, I don't want anyone to have to go through any of this.
