My husband and I worked for them in 2005 for almost the entire year. They didn't pay properly, ripped us in miles constantly, and punished us if we had problems with dispatch or complained about anything, By making us sit for even as long as a week. We barely ever had home time with children at home.
They put on our record we made a left hand turn, after we did them a favor moving trailers for 2 days for free in California, when we just got stuck in a hole missing RVs and Trucks on the 4th of July in Arkansas Rest area on our way to California. We weren't even turning. The guy who came out was a personal towing company and was very sweet and kind. He laughed at us cuz he said we don't need a tow. We were new drivers that had gone through a private school, and we were scared At how far it was tilted. He said he wouldn't charge us. Covenant charged us both 500.00 from our Pay. We had a prepaid attorney write them a letter of the truth and they didn't care. We demanded the receipt from the tow truck company and wouldn't show one.
They talked us into per diem and then never paid us the right money per mile. They paid us each about 3 cents less per mile. It was awful. If you can find another company this would probably be a good idea. This was wicked, the things thry did to us. They are not Christian at all. They may have been Christian before we went there but not anymore. If they have changed I haven't heard. Sincerely the whole truth and much worse than what I have shared here.

F* you i agree with the guy about this company ripping you off. They rip me off from my job. I work hard for them and one minor accident i terminated. Its more complicated that this but this company does not care about you at all. im glad you have a different perspective of this bulls* company that i thought was a family, christian base company. These people have no care about you if you lose you job, they dont care if you know they this is your lively hood. I figured out i was just a number. I work hard to get into driving position but what was terminated for something understadable. BUT i was misconcepted of how unamerican this people are. F* THEM TO HELL. They don't represent a good american company at all they have a amercian flag in front of their buidlng but it does not represent what they represent. a good company. f* them to hell.

The fact that it took you 9 years to write this shows me it's BS by itself, but I'm bored sitting at UPS so I'll respond.
1. I started in 2008 right after the economy tanked, and I never had any problem getting home. The miles wern't great for anyone in the entire industry, but also never sat for a week. My guess is if you really sat for a week (and I DON'T believe that) there is a lot more to it than your telling. For example did you pick up and deliver on time....did you put in your PTA'S correctly...Did you have them constantly repower loads you were supposed to be ready for and wern't??.....in my experience here THAT'S ususally the truth of these situations. That's always left out though, and it's big bad Covenants' fault.
2. On Per Diem. Had you actually READ the instruction on how it worked you would know that in return for only gettting taxed on half your money you were paid .03 CPM less. Also Covenant Transport is not the only company who does this.
3. The 500.00 was the accident charge at the time NOT the towing charge. I never agreed with this policy, and am happy that the accident charge has been abolished altogether. I am guessing that's why you feel they needed to provide you with a receipt?
4. This next sentence you wrote doesn't even make any sense. There is so much wrong just in this sentence.
"They put on our record we made a left hand turn, after we did them a favor moving trailers for 2 days for free in California, when we just got stuck in a hole missing RVs and Trucks on the 4th of July in Arkansas Rest area on our way to California. We weren't even turning."
A. If you were in california moving trailers, how could you be in Arkansas on the way TO California?
B. YOU got stuck in a hole, YOU... How is that Covenant's fault that YOU the PROFESSIONAL driver didn't pay attention to where YOU were driving?????? Rookie or not, that's driving 101 pay attention to where your going...
C. Why didn't you put in for local pay if you were moving trailers?
I doubt seriously you've put the WHOLE truth here. You are conveniently leaving out anything you did wrong I'm sure.
I'll give you some truth.... If you come here and do what your supposed to do you will make money. If you don't you won't, and that goes for ANY company in this industry.
I've been here since June of 2008. I was a company driver until Feburary of 2009 and bought a truck and have been an owner operator ever since.
I have NEVER had trouble getting miles, getting home, and I have b***h and complained plenty about things that I though were wrong, or just unacceptable. I have NEVER been "punished" for it. Of course I do go through the proper channels, and chain of command. I don't cry about it on some website....let alone 9 years later.
Joe
