Erie Insurance Don't try to make a claim unless you want to be canceled Erie Nationwide

Erie Insurance is a good company and deals with its claims in a timely and efficient fashion and pays what it says it will pay to settle a claim.

However, once that is done, Erie will cancel your insurance for actually using it. I had three claims in eight years, two of which were within 18 months of each other.

A tree was hit by lightening and my basement flooded due to sewer back-up, once in 2007 and once in 2015. In the city I live in, when a terrible storm hits and the city does not take care to divert the rain water in a timely fashion, basements tend experience sewer back-up.

I could not have prevented or controlled any of this.  I also pay extra to Erie for sewer-back up insurance.

Erie is happy to take my money year after year, however when they have to give me some of their money, they cancel the policy.

I do not consider this a top-rated manner for an insurance company to conduct business, especially for a long-time customer of both home owner and auto policies.
