H&R BLOCK RIP-OFF

We went to do our taxes at H&R block this year to see if we would get any more back using professionals. Not only were we jipped $600 less than what we would have gotten through an online tax service or the box program. We were charged $350 for an hour of their service and we tried to avoid the $20 fee to have our money put in a check and we were told to do the emerald card to avoid that fee.

WELL......... when we checked to see if the card worked we were charged $1.95 from H&R bank $2.00 from our branch and $20 (from H&R bank) to have the remaining balance of the card put into our checking account. So now we are left (thanks to the fee) with an odd balance that cannot be removed from the card unless we want to pay another $20.

So when trying to call the H&R Block service number on the back of the card, not only did I get TERRIBLE service, but I was passed from representative to representative and finally put on hold for 45 MINUTES! I was also lied to about terms of the agreement, specifically about the check request fee, which is actually free for the first request.

I was lied to about being able to speak with a supervisor, the representative told me that the supervisor was asking about the nature of my complaint and then when I told the representative about the complaint and asked that she give the phone to her supervisor I was told she had left for the day (not less than 1 minute after that conversation)

Infuriated and wanting nothing more than the remainder of my money put into a check and sent to me. I went to the branch where we did our taxes and was told there was absolutely nothing they could do. BUT. Being that each call I made to the H&R reps cost $2.00 the branch did give me a toll free number apologizing for the inconvenience and I could now make that free call and get some answers through the direct bank service.

Well, I made that call and the toll free number was a recording of the amount put on my emerald card and a statement saying if I needed any more tax information to contact the IRS directly, and then click.

Finally fed up with the run-around and over 10 hours of phone time we got online and called the direct customer service number and we were told everything the reps had told us was absurd, we will now see in 10 days if any of this will be taken care of.

NO INFORMATION, NO ANSWERS, JUST OVER $700 LESS AND AN ENTIRLY WASTED DAY! NEVER WILL I EVER GO TO H&R BLOCK AGAIN OR REFER ANY ONE THAT I KNOW. I HOPE NO ONE ELSE GETS AS SCREWED AS WE DID.
