If you are thinking of purchasing a Kia vehicle DON'T DO IT!!I thought I would get away from old Junkers and for once buy a newer car so I wouldn't be hounded for repairs all the time, WRONG!!!

I bought a used 2003 Kia Sedona for $8,000.00 in September of 08, I wanted to do a tune up and oil change. We found out to do a tune up you have to remove the whole fuel injection system just to change the rear spark plugs. We drove it for a month and the check engine light came on! (That's when the nightmare started) We had the codes read and it said the Mass air flow sensor and the knock sensor were bad. We replaced the mass air flow sensor and reset the computer. We thought the one sensor might be tripping the other sensor. WRONG!! The next day the engine light came back on, again we had the codes read. It said the knock sensor was bad and one of the pre-cats was now under the threshold. We had the knock sensor replaced (we had to remove the whole fuel injection system to get to it) pretty much the whole top of the motor.

We made an appointment with the Kia dealer because the cats were still under warranty (so we thought) We now find out that we had to have a 60,000 mile service and tune up for the warranty to be honored. We have a personal mechanic friend (that works at a certified shop) and had him service our car on his own time. So, we don't have a warranty at all now because Kia refused to replace the cats without a service receipt from a business. The Kia dealer computer now says both pre-cats are bad and now also needs a $500.00 induction motor replaced. The very next day (after Kia hooked it up to its computer) the f***ing airbag light is now on! The book says see a Kia dealer right away Tell me just how an airbag wears out or needs to be serviced? This is totally ridiculous and a fraud, I really don't think the parts are worn out or bad! I truly believe Kia has set all these things in motion with the computers in their cars and the dealer computers to bilk everybody out of thousands of dollars in very expensive and timed repairs. I bet they can even set their clocks and bank deposits by it! No joke!

Stay far far away from Kia!!

"I bought a used 2003 Kia Sedona for $8,000.00 in September of 08, I wanted to do a tune up and oil change. We found out to do a tune up you have to remove the whole fuel injection system just to change the rear spark plugs."

Wrong. You don't need to touch any part of the fuel system.

"We drove it for a month and the check engine light came on! (That's when the nightmare started) We had the codes read..."

By whom? Also, reading a code is NOT the same as having the issue diagnosed.

"...and it said the Mass air flow sensor and the knock sensor were bad. We replaced the mass air flow sensor and reset the computer."

Uh huh. Who reset the PCM? Disconnecting the battery does nothing.

"We thought the one sensor might be tripping the other sensor."

Did someone actually diagnose the issue and tell you that?

"The next day the engine light came back on, again we had the codes read."

And again, reading is not diagnosing.

"It said the knock sensor was bad..."

No, it did not. The code means nothing at all without proper diagnostic skills.

"...and one of the pre-cats was now under the threshold."

Read the explanation above.

"We had the knock sensor replaced (we had to remove the whole fuel injection system to get to it) pretty much the whole top of the motor."

Yep. What a waste of time. Without a proper diagnosis being done, you have been throwing good money after bad. I can gaurantee the KS was not faulty.

"We made an appointment with the Kia dealer because the cats were still under warranty (so we thought)"

FINALLY!!! Now that you've disassembled the top of the engine twice(for absolutely no reason), you decide to get the vehicle looked at by a professional.

"We now find out that we had to have a 60,000 mile service and tune up for the warranty to be honored."

Try reading your owner's manual. It is spelled out very clearly.

"We have a personal mechanic friend (that works at a certified shop) and had him service our car on his own time."

This is the same as having a crackhead do it under a tree.

"So, we don't have a warranty at all now because Kia refused to replace the cats without a service receipt from a business."

What a shocker!! A legit business won't accept the word of someone who has NOTHING to show proving any work has been done by another legit business. This is exactly how ALL businesses operate.

"The Kia dealer computer now says both pre-cats are bad and now also needs a $500.00 induction motor" replaced."

This issue is probably directly connected to the crackhead tearing the engine apart repeatedly, or indirectly by replacing parts that were not faulty, while ignoring the actual cause of the codes.

"The very next day (after Kia hooked it up to its computer) the f**king airbag light is now on! The book says see a Kia dealer right away" Tell me just how an airbag wears out or needs to be serviced?"

Simple. The airbag uses a clockspring to operate. When the clockspring breaks, the airbag light is illuminated. There is nothing anyone can do to break it. It is encased in a housing, and the housing is behind the steering wheel inside the column.

"This is totally ridiculous and a fraud, I really don't think the parts are worn out or bad!"

Great. Since you only bothered to get a diagnostic done after completely screwing up the truck, your opinion means nothing.

"I truly believe Kia has set all these things in motion with the computers in their cars and the dealer computers to bilk everybody out of thousands of dollars in very expensive and timed repairs. I bet they can even set their clocks and bank deposits by it! No joke!"

KIA used to make pure junk. By the mid 1990's however, the company was selling top quality vehicles. Their repair records are very good, and most repairs done are inexpensive.

You attempted to get repair work done for CHEAP, and even enlisted the help of your "friend" to do that. He should be fired by his employer. I have never met an employer who approves of "moonlighting". If he wants to work on cars, that is why he has an employer.
