i had purchased a pair of prescription glasses from them on sept.7,2007 with a coupon for 50% off of featherwieght single vision which was a total of 105.00 dollars off, which brought my total spendings to 264.95 dollars. I had went back for an adjustment because the were very tight on the sides of my face and my nose, i was told to try and see how it feels for a couple of days and to come back for more adj. if needed. well more adj. were needed so i had went to the lenscrafters in the deptford mall and recieved another adj., well what a difference they felt great.
well a couple of weeks later i was i had went to adj. my glasses on my face and my left lense had fell out on the pavement i could not believe it! so on 3-26-2008 i returned to the store at the echelon mall in voorhees and explained my situation and he said the screw was not on the left frame i proceeded to tell himm that the lense feel on the pavement and i would like to know what the are going to do about that he said "well looking at the other lense it also has scratches on it ", i said that is impossible because i have scratch resistant lenses, he gave me my glasses and told me to hold up to the light and then i saw them very fine scratches, i then said to him well there is a deep scratch on the left lense that fell out, he said it wes on the other lense too. well then i start to get alittle puzzled and said to him "what a minute here that lense feel out on the ground and i feel like you are calling me a liar and also i have scratch resistant lense , he said that oh they will scratch because the are not scratch PROOF,i said are you kidding me ! you people are ripping of the consumer every time you ask if poeple want that on there glasses.
he the proceeded to tell me that my galsses should be sprayed with there glass cleaner and then with there special cloth, which looks like a tissue to me, i said well thats probably where the scratches came from in the first place because i can not see 2 feet in front of without my glasses and they are not removed until i go to bed and they are put in my glass case every night! i then said as a matter of fact i run water on my lenses before i wipe them . i was then told that i must dry wipe them in ordere to get scratches.
what nerve this place has! i said to the man if you have a cleanibg protocol for your lenses then you need to let customers know that, he said that he does. i said no put in writting,with oral explanations and then handed to the customer, because all you people care about is the sale and nothing else! i left there so pi**ed off it was not even funny. no matter what i said i was made out to be a liar and how i cared for my glasses was wrong no matter what! so now i have a pair of glasses with SCRATCHES ON THEM AND LENS CRAFTERS IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT!

I agree with the previous rebuttal. First of all, how can you expect something for free after you've had it for 7 months?? What other companies will replace things absolutely free after that long? Aside from maybe your car warranties (which aren't even close to free either) most places will not. If i'm wrong, please correct me so i can make sure i go there everytime i need a free replacement!! I've been working for Lenscrafters for 8 years now and have learned a lot over the years. I'm not into selling and i am probably the worst person in sales constantly on the floor so i can promise you i'm not hungry for people's money.
In fact, I offer every discount i can and beg manager's to replace things for people even when i shouldn't be!! But, i can tell you that it is a great company to work for and by listening to the complaint the man that helped you sounds like he told you everything correctly. I am sorry, however, that you felt as though they were blaming you. But, technically, in the nicest way i can possibly put this, it sounds like it was in large part your fault. For one, and correct me if i'm reading this wrong, but did you say that you adjusted the glasses yourself?? If so, then if you are not trained in making adjustments and try to do it yourself, than i'm not the least bit surprised your lens fell out. When you put pressure around certain areas on the eyewire of a pair of glasses, any lens will pop out right where the bevel is. That is normal. That's why a lot of times when little kids, for example, will bend their frames up, they lose their lenses as well.
Also, lenses are not scratch proof. This is correct. What happens is you pay for scratch resistance. (Which happens to be on every single lens now including the least expensive) If you pay for EXTRA scratch resistance than you get more, like if you had upgraded to a Featherwates Plus lens. Think of it like clear nail polish or car wax. The more you put on, the more protection you get. However, only so much can be applied without affecting your prescription. That is good if you are running your lenses under water first, just make sure you are using a flat(not furry like a towel) 100% cotton towel. And, no windex. Scratches like the fine ones the employee found can be from a lot of things. Could be from cleaning or even if you're out in bad wind one day. Then dust particles blowing across your lens can scratch them believe it or not. The towels we use are indeed 100% cotton.
I, too, thought they looked funny when i began working there but next time you are in, ask if you may see one. Then tear it. It will only tear in one direction (along the grain) and you can see that it is made from cotton. If you are still concerned about the scratches, you do have the option of replacing them for 1/2 off as the other person said or next time you get glasses, get glass lenses. But, if you don't already know, they are heavy and if they fall out on the pavement will probably shatter. Either way, I do not think that you should get free replacement. Sorry=(

So you've had your glasses for 6 months and you are upset because they became scratched when one of the lenses fell out of the frame and hit the ground. You have a right to be upset but why are you blaming lenscrafters? Do you take your glasses off with one hand? If so then the stress that you put on the frames when doing this would cause the frame to bend out of shape making it possible for the lens to fall out. As far as the scratches go the gentleman at the store is correct. You purchased scratch RESISTANT lenses they are not scratch proof. I know you think the towels we use at lenscrafters are tissues but they are not they are 100% cotton clothes. We deal with glasses everyday do you think we can't look at a pair and tell how a lens was scratched or cared for. I have had people tell me that they put their glasses in a case when they are not wearing them and as they are saying this they are cleaning them with their shirt right in front of me. I am sure the gentleman offered to replace your lenses for you under the replacement protction program all you would have to do is pay 50% of the cost. Is this unreasonable to you? Do you think we should replace every scratched lens at no charge for the whole first year you own them? Once again I am sorry that you scratched your lenses but it was not our fault.
