Lowes markets the Perfect Flame bar-b-que as all stainless steel, which should not rust. I have had a Perfect Flame bar-b-que for a few months and the handle on the cover is rusted, as well as some of the fastners. I have found this unit to be cheaply constructed and typical of many items manufactured in China, it looks good but doesn't last and is not worth the money.

There are MANY different stainless steel specifications.... and some DO rust!

AUTHOR: Friendly Help - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 24, 2008

Example: A '300' series will not rust and will offer excellent strength, but some in the '300' series (i.e. 304) cannot be welded. 304L, 316, and 373 can be welded. Then there is the 400 series, ..... the list goes on and on. Some stainless steels are cheaper, a lot cheaper, than other stainless steels. The point being that "stainless steel" is not nearly as specific a term as you might think.

Next time, look BBQ grills up in Consumer Reports before you whip out your credit card.

It Figures

The body of the BBQ grill IS made of stainless steel BUT all the other hardware, the handles and fastners are made of the cheapest metal known to man. Try spraying some type of cooking oil or PAM on those parts that are rusting. Don't use a petrolium(sp) based product cause it could hurt you and beware of flair-up from the PAM or whatever you use. Let it dry completely.
