Roto Rooter paid $677.70 for work still having problems. Did not complete as said. Call backs either never show or broken equipment. Same sad story. ripoff Fort Smith Arkansas

Roto Rooter seems to have organization and staff problems. They do not complete the work, give you a bunch of excuses and we will do's and then don't. Same old story, with no results. I spent good money in good faith and got poor service and no results. Even had one of the workers smoke in the building after he was asked not to smoke. Very incompetent.

Equipment doesn't work, and then they have the whole repair story. Don't understand why a company as big a Roto Rooter only has limited or one piece of equipment. How can you run a business like that. This is not a one man show. They have informed me that their supervisor won't be in this area for another 5 days. Great now I have a commercial building that smells like S__t, well you know.

It's a Lot of Small Companies

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 26, 2005

Roto-Rooter has over 650 Franchisees. The average size is 3 trucks. I would venture to say Fort Smith wouldn't have too many more than that. They may have a small office, or they may operate out of the family garage. I noticed the Big 3 all have recent posts here: Roto-Rooter, Mr. Rooter, and Rescue Rooter. Some people conspire with employees to engage in unethical practices. It would seem that possibly some branches of these companies are not using best practices in running their businesses. Sometimes it is very difficult to determine what actually happened in the posts since the 3rd side of the story (what really happened) gets lost in the translation. Here's what every consumer should do: undedrstand contractor laws in their state; never hire an unlicensed contractor (especially "on the side"); if you have an issue with products or services, speak to Management; as a last resort go the the state contractors licensing board. They have the power and authority to force contractors who have violated state contractor law to comply. Notice I say violated the law. Sometimes just because you may be unhappy or have buyers remorse it may not mean any laws were violated. Remember, if you hire unlicensed, unregulated persons or companies you cannot and should not expect to get satisfaction in the event the situastion doesn't paly out as you wish. If you do hire licensed contractors, there are remedies available to you if laws have been violated. Contact your state department of consumer affairs.
