A small plastic part broke from a Kenmore vacuum.  Repairs said they could not get the part.  "Go online and buy the part and snap it on (2" plastic pedal).  The canister vacuum is still sold at Sears for $300.  On line, the plastic part, KC47AGJ3R01, is listed for $18.80.  The least expensive shipping was for $8.99 by USPS in ten days.  Sales tax was an additional $1.18.  The plastic pedal and plastic bag weigh under 2 ounces.

I heard Sears isn't doing well, but has their corporate infrastructure know anything about return of investment?  Why did they used to guarantee Craftsman tools for life (be careful, some don't carry it any more), but if a plastic part on your Sears vaccum goes, "Sorry, it's not Craftsman, it's Kenmore.  Pay big now, wait ten days, then fix it yourself.  Thank you for your business!"

What exactly were you expecting sears to do? Go open up a brand new one and just take the plastic pieces off and give them to you after you broke yours? Highly unrealistic. I have made many purchases at sears and I know they offer an extended warrenty on most small appliances. It was offered to you at the time of your purchase. You went cheap and said no and now when you have broken your toy you had to pay for it yourself. I would suggest that in the future you atleast listen when someone offers you a extended warrenty. You should always weigh the pros and cons. If its a item that is pricey or going to be used a lot you might want to get the extended warrenty. Yes you have to pay for it but the alternative is to PAY FULL PRICE for another one.

Your issue is a actual manufacture defect. This is why Sears told you to contact Kenmore. All Kenmore would have asked is that you either ship the item back and they would send you another or they would have sent you the pieces in a good faith attempt. Instead of doing your part you hold Sears responsible for not fixing your problem for free. Self entitled much?? Just because you purchase something at a retail outlet does not make it the retail stores responsibility. Take ownership of both the item and the responsibility of owning physical objects. Quit looking for other people to bail you out. Sears did not break your item, the only part Sears played was they were thoughtful enough of a business to offer you a SELECTION of items to purchase. You are attempting to hold Sears to a higher standard then they are LEGALY liable for. A higher standard then even    you would be able to do. You show not only your laziness but your ingnorance of how to protect your property. I'm sure if you had taken a few mins and read the paperwork FULLY that came with your item you would have known how to make a warrenty claim to either get the pieces for free or a whole new unit as it would fall within a one year manufacturer quality warrenty. But Sears did not rip you off, they just did not give you your way. Sears is not going to do the work for you for free. Sears is not going to waste the time doing work for you without being paid for it. Sears has to pay thier employees to do work for Sears and NOT you. You cannot expect Sears to do this for you just because you made a purchase with them. It's people like you that have forced retailers to become as inflexible as they have become. You expect the world to squat and kiss your rump. You demand unrealistic customer service while only rewarding the effort with pennies and scorn. You expect to be treated like royalty and treat everyone as they are lesser to you.
