Universal Gas & Electric Throws you into collections for a bill YOU DON"T OWE!!!! Southfield Michigan

Universal gas & electric put me in collections for a bill i did not even owe! my husband and i were price checking other gas supplyers when we got a call from universal to renew our "contract." they stated that we were trying to treminate a 5yr contract with them and if we did they would charge us with a $250 early tremination fee. I wanted to look into it more so i told them to call me back when i had figured our our consumers bill and looked over our so called "contract". the next day my husband got a call from a "debt collector" stateing that we were in collections for a unpayed bill from universal gas & elecrtic. he told them to call me because he did not know what was going on (i pay and manage all our bills). so the "collector" called me at work. i told them that we owed nothing. We had not even cancaled any contract and was never even sent a bill or and thing for that matter. I told them i was going to handle it with universal directly and they were not allowed to call me back. i emeditaly called universal and the rep told me that we had ended a 5yr contract early and the fee applyed. I told her that we did not cancle anything and i was not goint to pay a bill i did not owe and did not even recive. (knowing that there is no way people can put you into collections in less than a day with out real paper work of unpayed bills) I came to find out that the soa called "collector" as actualy some one from there billing department trying to scare us into keeping our contract. Neather my husband or my self ever signed a contract on what was suposed to be a totaly free thing! these people have no real customer service and are abslote scam artist. don't not get invalved with this company!
